I understood that you must sleep for 3 hours in order to have the sleep stages (REM, Light, Deep) shown if less than 3 you just get a more general graph with time slept, no details. However, I am getting no details even when I sleep more than 3. And it is erratic. For instance this week on Monday 5:21 sleep, I had a detailed graph of the stages, on Tue 6:28 no details, Wed 5:58 no details, Thur 6:19 full details, Today 7:38 no details.

On the days without stages, what does the app say.

I had that same problem until I started sleeping with it on my non-dominate wrist and haven't had an issue since.

The screen shot without stages is telling you that the tracker was not able to get a consistent heart rate. @bamboopin gave you one suggestion.
The help docs have a few more.

Yes, thank you. I will try that. My confusion is why does it record it one night but not the other. For instance, to day I got full graphs with all the stages. I'll try switching wrist and see if it is consistent. I suspect it won't be but we'll see.

What does your Fitbit app say about nights with simple sleep recordings.
