My Fitbit is completely black and even after the reset and smiley face... nothing happens.

Hi @GigiWash A warm welcome to the Fitbit Community Forums. If you give the left button of your Charge 3 a short press does the display then appear?

Thanks for confirming. If you have not done so, try selecting another watch face within the App and resyncing your tracker.

In this case I feel the way forward for you will to be to reach out to Customer Support for some further assistance. This one does seem strange though as you mention you are seeing the smiley face on rebooting.
