Charge 3 Notification Service not running

Hi, I have set my fitbit charge 3 up to connect with my WhatsApp messages. However, I am not receiving any notifications through my fitbit and when I go onto the app and onto the notification settings an error message reads, "Notification service is not running. A phone restart is required to re-enable notifications on your tracker'. 

 

This message appears daily, more than once, and even when the phone is restarted it does not fix the problem. 

 

HELP!!!

I'm receiving the same error message:
"Notification service is not running. A phone restart is required to re-enable notifications on your tracker"

I have restarted my phone -- Samsung Galaxy S8 -- and am still experiencing this problem.
Phone calls, text messages, and calendar events are not coming through.
