Charge 3 blank screen

I have the black screen issue on my Charge 3, its been this way for a number of weeks now - no problems syncing with my phone but I cant get anything to display on the watch face.

 

I have tried a number of different fixes, but nothing seems to work.

 

To Recap things I tried (multiple times each):

 

  • Cleaned contacts on both fitbit and charging cable. (fitbit will charge to 100% as reported on phone sync)
  • Updated firmware
  • Resetting (I never get a smiley but it vibrates as expected - so I finish the process anyway)
    • Plug the charging cable into a USB wall charger.
    • Clip the other end of the charging cable to the port on the back of the fitbit.
    • Make sure the button is aligned with the button opening on the charging cable.
    • Press and hold the button for 8 seconds.
    • Release the button.
    • When you see a smile icon and the tracker vibrates, the tracker restarted.
    • Unplug your tracker from the charging cable.
  • Changing watch face
