Charge 3 bouncing between screen wake

Replies are disabled for this topic. Start a new one or visit our Help Center.

Just went for a long walk on the beach and my Charge 3 started freaking out. It keeps bouncing between screen wake, the time and blankness. I rinsed it off and dried it but it won’t stop. Any help?

Hello @VenusShines, thanks for stopping by! Thanks for trying to solve the issue about the screen acting odd. Nice way to go!

From the clock face, swipe to Settings and tap Reboot Device

If your tracker is still acting odd, follow the restart instructions below.

  1. Plug the charging cable into the USB port on your computer or any UL-certified USB wall charger.
  2. Clip the other end of the charging cable to the port on the back of the tracker. The pins on the charging cable must lock securely with the port.
  3. Make sure the button on your tracker is aligned with the button opening on the charging cable. You’ll know the connection is secure when the tracker vibrates and you see a battery icon on your tracker’s display.
  4. Press and hold the button on your tracker for 8 seconds. Release the button. When you see a smile icon and the tracker vibrates, the tracker restarted.
  5. Unplug your tracker from the charging cable.

Give this a go and let me know the outcome.

Hi Marre-
Thanks for your reply. I did the reboot and everything seemed okay except the battery was very low (shouldn’t have been since the last charge). So I charged it again and now it seems completely dead. The screen is totally blank and the green lights on the back are gone. Now what?

Hello there @VenusShines, thanks for coming back and for letting me know the restart worked.

If your Charge 3 seemed to run out of battery, I'd recommend restarting your device once again. When attempting the restart it, I suggest to let your device into the charger around 20 minutes and then go for the restart.

Please take a look at the help article Why isn't my battery charging? and follow the instructions provide there.

We recommend to charge your trackers via the USB port over a wall adapter. However, it is also possible to charge your Fitbit tracker with a UL certified wall adapter. What may actually cause damage to the tracker's battery (either on a computer or a wall adapter) is the charging time, which if excessive over time may damage the battery and therefore cause quick battery drain or prevent the tracker from charging at all.

Tips to best charge Fitbit trackers are:

  • Use only genuine Fitbit charging cables
  • Use only UL-certified wall chargers
  • Avoid USB battery packs
  • Charge at room temperature

For charging purposes, your charging cable can be plugged into any USB power source, including but not limited to:

  • A computer
  • A Wall A/C to USB adapter, commonly found with smartphones
  • A DC to USB adapter (vehicle power port)

Let me know if you need anything else!

Hello, my FitBit Charge 3 is doing the same thing. Flicks/vibrates back and forth from main screen to the 'Screen/wake and Notification' screen. I've rebooted from the screen twice, doesn't work; also plugged it in to restart with the happy face. Neither works. What can i do please?

Hi there-
Sorry to say, but nothing worked. It was still under warranty, so they sent me a new one.
Good luck,
