Charge 3 brightness outside

My Fitbit Charge 3 shows black screen in sunlight. Can’t even read the time. Inside is fine. How can I fix this?

Have you checked the tracker's brightness? If you haven't, I recommend swiping to settings from your Charge 3, to the brightness option and select the option that better meet your needs.

Yes I have been to settings, there are three options dim, normal and auto. I changed it from normal to auto but that didn’t make much difference. Then I changed the display and it’s a bit better but still hard to see. It’s white on a black background. Is black on grey background easier to see? If so can I do this?
