Charge 3 compatibility with Pixel 3

Replies are disabled for this topic. Start a new one or visit our Help Center.

Because I am very frustrated that my new Pixel 3 will not sync with the Charge 2, I am reaching out to ask if the Charge 3 is compatible with the Pixel 3? I rely heavily on the notifications feature of these watches and feel let down that this (as well as syncing in general) does not work with my new phone.

Hey @Hleatherby, great to have you here.

Regarding your compatibility inquiry, Fitbit is compatible with more than 200 of the most popular Android, iOS and Windows mobile devices.

The full list of compatible devices with confirmed compatibility can be found here. If a device isn’t listed it doesn’t mean it won’t work with a Fitbit tracker or smartwatch. We routinely test new devices to ensure full compatibility with Fitbit devices and the Fitbit App, and are constantly working to confirm compatibility with new phone models.

A majority of Android phones running version 4.4 or higher will work with our products, however we cannot guarantee optimal performance on devices for which we have not tested and confirmed compatibility.

Let me know if you need anything else. Smiley Happy

Thanks @AlejandraFitbit! Yep this phone has the newest Android Operating system, brand new phone.  The Pixel 3 is not on the list of compatible devices, nor does it sync or do anything  as expected.  I'll sync with the old phone for now but since I rely heavily on the wrist notifications for my job, I will likely have to switch to a different company for a tracker if this is not updated soon.  Hate to leave FitBit but this is a major oversight 😞

Hi! I purchased a Charge 3 today and it seems to sync fine with my Pixel 3 XL. Maybe I can help you troubleshoot?

Hi there!  Thank you so much for letting me know! Once I get the Charge 3 I might reach out. Sounds like the Charge 2, which is what I currently have, is not on the list of compatible trackers with the Pixel but this is really good to know about the Charge 3.  Until now I was not sure if that tracker would work with this phone 🙂

Thanks again!

I read Charge 3 instead of Charge 2 in your post. But yes, if you do have trouble, please reach out. So far the Charge 3 is working fine with my Pixel 3.

This is great to know, thank you again! I actually cancelled my pre-order for the Charge 3, unsure of whether or not it would be compatible.  Fitbit has been such a wonderful community and up until now, no problems with the devices so I was sad about the idea of having to switch.  This gives me hope, and I will try my luck with the Charge 3!

Hi again @JulieB42 and @AlejandraFitbit, sad to report that the Pixel 3 does not sync with the Charge 3 at all. App will locate the device, but after restarting the watch several times, removing, re-adding, turning on and off bluetooth, nothing.  It has synched with my old phone, and received the update to fix bugs, but no luck with the Pixel 3 sync.

I don't know if it made any difference, but mine was plugged into the USB port when I set it up with the Pixel 3. Did you change the name of your phone at all? I noticed that I had trouble re-connecting to some devices after I changed the name of my phone.

Do you mean you had the watch plugged in and charging? I did have the watch plugged in and charging while close to the phone.  It is exactly what happened with the Charge 2 - the app located the watch, but could not complete the sync and failed to do so after several attempts. And no, the phone has never been renamed..it is brand new.  That is a good idea though, but nope mine hasn't changed.

Yes, that's what I did. It was also the first time I'd set up the watch, so I don't know if that made a difference.

Good news! I was able to get everything to sync! Documenting my steps for others here:

1) I first turned off bluetooth on all other nearby devices, and made sure that the Charge 3 was removed from the iPhone which I was previously testing with.

2) Checked to make sure Charge 3 was not on the list of bluetooth devices for Pixel 3 (if it had been, I would have removed it here).

3) Checked to make sure Android was the updated version 9.

4) Turned off Pixel 3 and waited one minute -> restarted phone.

5) Opened fitbit app -> added Charge 3 -> paired just fine.

Glad to hear you got it going.

This morning my watch wasn't syncing. The solution was to go into settings and reboot the watch. Leaving this here for others who may have the same trouble.

My solution was to not only unpair my Charge 3 from my old phone (Pixel 2 XL), I had to completely uninstall the Fitbit app from the Pixel 2 XL. After I did that, I rebooted the Pixel 3 XL, went into the Fitbit app and was able to quickly add and sync the Charge 3. Hope this helps those still having difficulty.

I had a similar experience.  It was either that sequence, or moving to a totally quiet bluetooth place.

Hi,

I gave my wife a charge3 for Christmas upgrading from an Alta. She's syncing using a pixel 3 phone, the problem is the current heart rate doesn't syc and when manually syncing that doesn't work either. Sometimes days later it will sync but only partially.

I too am having trouble with messages on my Charge 3 since switching to a Pixel 3.   My phone is connected to my Pixel 3 and it is synching the data, but I'm no longer getting any e-mail or text messages notifications on my Charge 3.  I've rebooted the Charge 3 and removed and re-installed the Fitbit App from the phone.  Thanks!

Also bumping this thread.

There is conflicting information on the website about Pixel 3 compatibility.

This page (referenced by fitbit moderators in multiple threads): https://help.fitbit.com/articles/en_US/Help_article/2315/?q=Phones&l=en_US&fs=Search&pn=1   Says it is supported.

The fitbit devices page: https://www.fitbit.com/devices   Does not have it on the supported list.

I was never able to get notifications to work with my Charge HR + original Pixel, and I'd be pretty annoyed if the Charge 3 doesn't work.   I'm also fairly interested in a Versa smartwatch, but I'm not willing to put down $160 for something that only "might" work.

Moderators, can we get some clarity?

My Charge 3 now works fine with my Pixel 3. It just took some work to get
it going. Can't tell you the exact steps and I'm not sure if some software
upload along the way helped.
