Welcome to the Community Forums @SunsetRunner.

Thank you for the information and for the troubleshooting steps you've followed prior to posting. Please make sure that your Charge 3 isn't in Sleep mode. When Sleep mode is activated take into consideration that the screen's brightness is set to dim. To verify this: Press and hold the button, and swipe left to access the quick settings screen. Tap Sleep is your see the option, to turn it on or off. When you turn off the setting, the icon appears dim with a line through it.

In addition, I recommend performing a long restart. A long restart is different than the basic restart and you can perform it by following the steps below:

  1. Connect the device to the charging cable.
  2. While the device is plugged into the charging cable, press and hold the button down for 15 seconds.
  3. The device turns on and shows a battery icon. Two vibrations occur: first a short vibration, then a medium vibration.
  4. The device turns off.
  5. The device turns on and shows a progress bar and short vibrations occur. The progress bar completes. Note: A total of 7 short vibrations occur.
  6. Remove the device from the charging cable. The device shuts down.
  7. Important: Plug the device into the charging cable again.

On a side note, if you already contacted our Support TeamI recommend to continue working with them since they have already all the details and special tools to continue assisting you.

Hope this helps.

Thank you for your suggestions I’d tried the long restart to no avail - but your suggestion to try and see if it was in sleep mode was a new one -alas still just the black screen - one of the most frustrating things for me is that in my attempts to fix it I thought to remove it and reattach it to my iPhone - the iPhone finds it and I would be able to track my steps etc that way - however to complete the process I have to enter the four digits Fitbit sends to my phone and since the phone screen is not available I can not see the numbers to enter them😡it appears they will not send the digits by any other means 😢 at least I’d be able to use it as a tracker that way

Thanks for your response @SunsetRunner.

I appreciate for trying the suggested instructions. I'm sorry that you've had this experience with your Charge 3. As you may notice, the only way to complete the set up process is by using the code displayed on the Charge 3, but since it is not lighting up, it won't possible. In case you have any additional questions about the outcome of your case you can contact our team back.

See you around.

How do you get to the sleep setting if you can’t see the screen?

Thanks for getting back @SunsetRunner. Welcome! It's great to see you around @BethWid

@SunsetRunner Please note that is not possible to send the code to your phone, it sends the code only to the Fitbit itself. I'm sorry for the inconvenience.

@BethWid If the display is just dark or dim, you can try to get the sleep mode by pressing and holding the button, and swipe left to access the quick settings screen. If the display is not turning on at all, I suggest to follow the restart as described here
