I have a Charge 3 and I'm very pleased with the heart rate data, the sleep data and the length of charge. My problem with the Charge 3 and what I know about the Charge 4 is that the device is unreadable outdoors without taking the time to stop, shade the device, and peer closely at the display. That problem is made worse by the short screen time out. And sweaty fingers. So it doesn't work for me to use the device to start, stop, and monitor runs and bike rides. I need to do those things with a quick glance. The device is more useful for slow walks when you have the time to fiddle with it.
I think those problems may be linked to the small size of the Charge 3 and Charge 4. Might be a hardware problem trying to add a sharp bright screen with an adjustable screen time out. And still have a decent length of charge time. I like the relatively small screen size of the Charge 3 and 4 but would buy a device that is larger but has a bright screen that is readable at a quick glance. Ideally with an always on feature. Maybe a wireless charging option that works while you are asleep.
