My lighting on my screen turned dim after 5 months and I can't see the screen in daylight. I have tried all the things posted on the forum and nothing has worked. I am also having trouble getting it to relay notifications from my phone. Sometimes it will, sometimes it won't.

Thanks for troubleshooting the issues you are experiencing with your Charge 3. About the display getting dim, check this post and follow the instructions provided there.
Now about the notifications, follow the steps in the help article: How do I get notifications from my phone on my Fitbit device?.
