Charge 3 doesn't count all the steps

Many times my Charge 3 does not count all my steps. I check my steps constantly during certain activities, and the steps are not tallied. I know I take more steps than are registering.

"during certain activities"

Are these activities when the wrist is held steady instead of swinging, such as holding hand rail on treadmill, pushing shopping cart of baby carriage?

Before posting, re-read to see if it would make sense to someone else not looking at your Fitbit or phone.

It is both. Usually I am walking and moving my wrist intentionally because it is not counting

Hello @Sorceress19. Welcome to the community forums! @JohnnyRow Nice to see you around and I appreciate your input!

@Sorceress19 Thank you for the detailed information. I'd recommend performing a restart to your Charge 3 to see if it refreshes the performance and fix any glitch that could be affecting the way it counts your steps. For the restart, please follow the instructions from this help article:

How do I restart my Fitbit device?

On a side note, there are some tips that could help to improve the accuracy of your Charge 3:

  • Make sure that you wear your device correctly, on top of your wrist. If you switch your device to your other wrist, update the Wrist setting in the Fitbit app. For more information, see How do I wear my Fitbit device?
  • Confirm that the personal information you entered when you set up your Fitbit account (height, weight, sex, and age) is correct. For more information, see How do I manage my Fitbit profile?. Also, make sure that your Stride length is correct.
  • On certain devices, you can use the Exercise app

to track your workouts and see your real-time heart-rate data. This data can better determine calories burned during exercise, especially for activities like spinning or yoga where your step count might not reflect your intensity level. For more information, see How do I track my workouts with my Fitbit device?
  • For your device to count steps during a walk or run, your arm must swing back and forth as you move. If you need both hands (to push a stroller, for example), or if you hold a dog leash with the same arm that you wear your device on, consider using GPS to better calculate your distance traveled and calories burned. For more information, see How do I use GPS on my Fitbit device?

Hope this helps.
