Charge 3 is unresponsive

hello, for the past few days my charge 3 screen has not been able to turn on. I didn’t mind since I primarily use it as a fitness tracker but intended to get around to restarting it. However, yesterday the charge stopped working all together. If I tap it, nothing. If I use the side buttons, nothing. It even stopped tracking and transmitting it to my phone. Is it completely dead? The green light on the back is still on but otherwise it won’t do anything.

What finally worked for me with the same unresponsive screen was to delete the Charge 3 device from my account and reinstall it. Also shut down and restarted my phone. On a different thread someone recommended trying a factory restart.

Welcome to the Fitbit Community, @MiaisMIA. I´m sorry to hear your Charge 3 stopped working.

Please confirm that you have restarted your device with these steps:

  1. Plug the charging cable into the USB port on your computer or any UL-certified USB wall charger.
  2. Clip the other end of the charging cable to the port on the back of the tracker. The pins on the charging cable must lock securely with the port.
  3. Make sure the button on your tracker is aligned with the button opening on the charging cable. You’ll know the connection is secure when the tracker vibrates and you see a battery icon on your tracker’s display.
  4. Press and hold the button to restart your tracker for 8 seconds. Release the button. When you see a smile icon and the tracker vibrates, the tracker restarted.

What happens when you charge your device?

Exactly the same thing happened to my Fitbit Charge 3 today. I did try exactly what you recommended but it remained completely unresponsive. I had just completed recharging it a few hours earlier and it worked well for a few hours and then nothing. Help

When you see the Fitbit logo and the tracker vibrates, the tracker restarted. Charge 3 & Charge 4—press and hold the button on your tracker for 8 seconds.

Mine is doing the same thing.  It was working when I went to bed last night and is completely non responsive this morning.  I followed all the steps that have been laid out and hooked it up to the charger but didn't get the battery icon at all.  I will continue to follow this thread to see if there are any other suggestions

Welcome to the Fitbit Community, @Leaddog85. Thank you for mentioning that you have followed all the steps and I'm sorry to hear that your Charge 3 is unresponsive.

Please try charging your tracker again by following these steps:

  •  Clean the charging contacts on the back of your device and the pins on your charging cable using the instructions in How do I clean my Fitbit device?
  • Try a different USB port or a UL-certified wall charger.
  • Make sure you use the charging cable that came with your device, as most cables aren't compatible with other devices.

Check the alignment and try reconnecting your device to the charging cable. For more information, see How do I charge my Fitbit device?

  • Restart your device. For more information, see How do I restart my Fitbit device?

Let me know how it goes.

This failed for me, as the Charge 3 fails to pair via Bluetooth. The side button on the device is dead and zero response, cradled or not.  The hard reboot located online only works IF the side button is responsive. Is there another way to completely reset the device such that my Fitbit app can connect to the device?

After getting in contact directly with Fitbit, they resolved my problem by sending me a new Charge 3. They have always been very good at helping me resolve my issues and for that reason, I will continue to use their products.
