Charge 3 not tracking spinning

Replies are disabled for this topic. Start a new one or visit our Help Center.

Hi,

My fitbit Charge 3 isn't picking up any data when I do a spin class. I think this is messing up my resting heart rate stats (as it's not recognising 30 mins of spinning as exercise). How do I fix this, please?

1.  You say not picking up any data.  Do you mean even not heart rate?

That would have no effect on RHR.  True, exercise tends to lower RHR, but that is reflected in your heart getting stronger so required fewer beats when at rest.  Fitbit does not see your exercise, so decides it should report your RHR lower.  Your RHR is whatever it is, regardless of how it got there.

2. If you want spin class to be recognized as an exercise session, the surest way to do this is to use the exercise app rather than relying on auto-recognition.

Thanks for the reply. I was saying it didn’t recognise my spin class as a workout. My heart rate was read (and elevated as you’d expect) but that period wasn’t credited as 30 minutes of exercise as, say, 30 mins of walking.

As for manually adding it to exercises, the steps outlined on that link don’t seem to correspond to my Fitbit. This watch is not user friendly.

@Robin777 spinning is not an auto recognizable event. Probably because the hands do not move much.

If you want spinning to be recorded, then please follow @JohnnyRow 's suggestion and add spinning as a manual mode to your Charge 3.

That is if you have a Charge 2 or better.

Open your app, go-to your trackers setting, exercise shortcuts, tap the + in the top right.

I have manually added the spinning exercise to my watch but it still doesn't pick it up as a 'workout'. If I walk for 20 minutes it picks it up (as an exercise) but if I spin for 45 minutes it doesn't, which is frustrating as the watch is not functioning as I'd hoped.

I think what you are saying is that it does not automatically recognize spinning as an exercise session.  But you can be sure it will be counted as an exercise session if you use the exercise app described in the link I gave above.  From main clock face, scroll right (swipe left) to the 'exercise' icon tap that, scroll left or right to find the exercise choice you want and continue from there.  If that does not meet your needs, I understand but there's nothing else to suggest.  Walking is usually picked us as an exercise session because the regular arm is recognized, whereas it is not easily recognized in spinning.
