Charge 3 problems connecting on computer

Hy there,

Since 2.5 years I use the charge 3. From the start I have had some problems with synchronising it to my computer, low battery and more. Overall it works but there are small irritating problems.  Therefore I received a replacement for the one I had. But I have great problems with connecting it to my fitbit account om my computer. (I don't have a smartphone, and I don't want to)

I can connect the replacement to my computer while using the charging cord. It shows the 4 digits, than a mark that it is connected and then small white line. when I press the button for a couple of seconds it gives a smiley. Than the real problems start. It doesn't show a clock, it shows a fitbit logo. I cant get it connected with my bluetooth. If I walk around with it it doesn't count steps etc.

When I remove the other fitbit charge 3 completely, it doens't help either.

Can anyone help me? I believe there might be a simple answer.

Thanks for helping an ICU nurse.

p.s. I live in the Netherlands, so if my English is not correct, excuse me for my mistakes.

Welcome to the Fitbit Community, @ICU-nurse73. I'm sorry to hear you haven't been able to connect your Charge 3 with your computer.

We recommend pairing your tracker with a mobile device and then syncing it with a computer. Which operating system has your computer?

Thank you for your assistance @Julia_G.

Hi, @ICU-nurse73 , the small white line indicates that it is setting up.  This can take 20 minutes or so.  If you press the button in the middle of the set up it will start over and just show you the Fitbit logo and that may be where you are having a problem.  I would suggest connecting it as before, entering the 4 digits, and then leaving it alone while the small white line makes its progress.

Please try that and post again if you continue to have difficulties.

Hi Julia,

Thank you for your reply. I am trying again, and the white line is on the display. For now I will leave it alone. I hope this is the problem....

Hi Andrea,

Thank you for your answer. I already thought that might be the answer. The problem is that I don't have a smartphone. So I will have to ask someone.

Maybe a collegue, of in the store where I bougt my fitbit.

My computer has a windows 10. My older charge 3 has (overall) no problems with syncing. I can disconnect and connect it without any problems, so the problem is not my computer. (by the way, I cannot change the clock display anymore... )

For now I am on a holyday for at least another week... so still to be contined. I am not giving up.

Thanks for getting back to us and for letting us know that you don't have a Smartphone @ICU-nurse73.

To set up your Charge 3 with Windows 10 computers verify the following:

  • You installed the Fitbit app for Windows as described in How do I set up my Fitbit device?
  • The operating system on your computer is up to date. To see if an update is waiting to be installed, go to Start

    Settings

     > Update & security.
  • The Bluetooth setting at Start

     > Settings >

Bluetooth is on. If you can't find the setting and you're not sure whether your computer supports Bluetooth, follow the steps in this blog post to verify Bluetooth capability.

Troubleshooting:

  1. Turn your Fitbit device off and back on using the instructions in How do I restart my Fitbit device?
  2. Try setting up your device again.
  3. If you can't set up after the restart, remove all other Fitbit devices from your account and from the list of connected Bluetooth devices on your computer.
  4. If you still can't set up and a compatible phone or tablet isn't available, please contact Customer Support so we can investigate.

Hi Andrea

I tried everything you suggested. The only thing I haven't tried is pairing it with a smartphone or tablet. I realised that at work we have an Ipad, and an Iphone, so I can try to install the fitbit app and pair my fitbit to it. I am still on a holiday, so I won't be back for work till next mondy night.

Thank you for your support.
