Charge 3 screen dimmed and now almost impossible to read

Hi all,

I have had a Charge 3 for some time ant it had been working just fine until a few months ago, when the screen started to dim regardless of the Brightness option I chose. Now it is dim to the point that I can't see my screen when outside, and some bits of the screen that are completely black. I have to even use my phone to check the time!

I know lots of people have complained about this issue with the Charge 3, and I have tried all solutions suggested in the forum (basically a restart of the device) but unfortunately they haven't helped.

I emailed Fitbit support and all they suggested was (again) restarting despite the fact I made clear I had already tried that! They have ignored my follow-up emails.

This is very frustrating as I have been a Fitbit user for more than 10 years... I would appreciate any suggestions to solve this issue if possible.

No response from Fitbit support after a week. I sent another email and I got back an automatic reply saying there isn't email support (even though they replied to an email just a few days before!).

Appalling customer support which is hugely disappointing. Obviously this is my last Fitbit product!

Thanks for the suggestion roy2305, I tried the different modes some time ago with limited results but unfortunately now it doesn't make any difference 😕

Same issue exactly! I also have tried all the tips and tricks...have to use my phone to tell time (unless I am in a very dark room). Screen wake, brightness...none of these settings help any longer. Sorry for no suggestions, and I've also called for help. It's very frustrating. Just adding my voice. I also have used fitbit for a very long time indeed, and have mostly been very happy. However, it is now almost impossible to use, so I am wondering about my next tracker.

Nice idea when it used to work. For me it no longer makes any difference at all.

Same issue with dark screen started a couple of weeks ago. Tried all the tricks and fixes and still not working. Also, the app no longer tracks sleep or gives the track sleep option to track. This started today 2/23/2023. Fitbit was working just fine a couple of weeks ago.

Same for me. I’ve been a Fitbit user from their launch. I complained a couple of years ago about the brightness and they sent me a replacement. Was working great till last couple of months and now it’s too dim to read. Luckily for me it’s my birthday next week and I’m replacing it with an Apple Watch.

Same here. At first the screen started to get dim, now I cant see anything. It still works as a tracker because it vibrates at 10000 steps which I originally set up years ago. Seems like the screen is the issue. Wish I could get the screen back but reading the other comments it looks like Fitbit doesn’t care.

Exactly the same for me although my birthday is a few months away! In the meantime, I've recovered my old Charge 2 from the bottom of my drawer and it's so bright it blinds me at night 😛

What button are you holding and how can TAP WAKE if you can’t see anything on the screen?….I’ve only had this Charge3 for three weeks!… it’s awful

Very disappointing purchase as I have also been Fitbit user for many years…agreed, looks like Fitbit won’t be finding a home with me… waste of money if I cannot even see the screen…real shame…

Same thing for me here. Reading all the replies below makes me feel that the Charge 3 is FitBit’s biggest fail… and apparently their customer service as well. Shame!

I found out what to do, thanks to Roy who replied to your question. Your screen is in sleep mode. Hold the button on the left side a coulple of seconds. Then appears a text ‘sleep mode, do not disturb’ (in the language you have installed on your FitBit). The you tap on that text, a couple of times, and then the screen lights up again. Took me weeks to find this out!
