Charge 3 screen going dim

My screen suddenly became light (like in night mode) during the day yesterday. I went to settings to adjust the brightness from auto and now the screen is gone. I can vaguely see the smiley face when I try to reset so there is something there but it's too light to make adjustments. I've tried changing the clock face and a long start but neither have worked.
