So my dad was complaining that the heart rate monitor wasn’t working and then all of a sudden the Fitbit logo popped up with a 001. This is a Fitbit Charge 3. I tried charging it and the screen does not Change.

So. I'm having the same problem. I tried this. It didn't work. It would be great if solutions other than "I see you have contacted support and they got it solved" were up here. Extremely frustrating.

Hi Alejandra,
I keep restarting it... both long and short restarts and it keeps going back to 001. After I restart it, the only things the screen shows are the reloading bar and the smiley face. If I try pushing the button after that it just vibrates and shows me nothing. Then awhile later it is showing 001 again. I'm not sure what else to do.

I'm having the same issue, tried the short and long reset, neither worked. Unable to restart Fitbit. Any other options to fix?

I'm having this problem and this is after about 2 weeks of daily sync errors, not keeping time correctly, and just generally not working as it should. None of the solutions for pairing/unpairing, rebooting, or anything have helped. I've only had this for about a year and a half and I feel for the price paid, it should last a lot longer.

Hello, I’ve had this problem too. I now have 2 fit bit charge 3 with this same error that don’t work.
I got my first Fitbit over a year ago and had this error with in 3 months. Then my husband got me another one and has worked perfectly for about 8 months and now has the same error. I’m very disappointed in my **ahem**bits.

I have the same problem. I removed the device and now I cannot discover the device. 001 flashes on screen then goes away. smiley face flashes then goes away. I am EXTREMELY unhappy with your product. I keep getting them as gifts every year. They last about six months then I'm sending it in for warranty. I get replacement, the replacement lasts six months then it fails me as well. I am out of warranty again and will not be purchasing or accepting Fitbit brand smart watches as gifts anymore. 3 Fitbits have been gifted. 3 have been warrantied. 😠

Yep, that is my experience as well, Fitbits, I am sorry to say, are crappy products built to fail. I bought the last one (I have since switched to Garmin) at Best Buy and they don't even sell a warranty on them anymore because so many people return them when they constantly break that Best Buy was loosing money and stopped selling the warranties.

Ugh. Just experienced the 001 error on my 1-2 year old Charge 3, tried the steps listed above with no luck. Called Fitbit support. We tried a “long” reboot while in the charger with no luck. Now it is blank.
Support said to keep an eye on my email for 10-15 minutes while he works with I’m his team to work on a solution. After 10 minutes I received email with a 35% discount toward a new device since mine was out of warranty. And no resolution steps! That is terrible. I don’t want a new device, I just want it to work. I’m going to try letting it discharge and hope for a reset. If it works, I’ll just have to wait for the next issue. If that doesn’t work, I’m not going with another Fitbit product.

How was this resolved? I have tried hard restart, but nothing happens. Fitbit help center says my warranty has expired. It seems like a common issue, so frustrating that it's not resolved yet.

I'm having same issues as well. My fitbit is not working, not synching, not even turning on anymore.. the smily face appears when I try to re-start, then nothing.. just a black screen. The 001 screen keeps on appearing also. I can't synch fitbit to my iPhone doesn't matter how many times I've tried, and these steps you suggested are not working.. any help would be great, thanks

1. Give support a call. If your Fitbit is still under warranty you may luck out and have it replaced.
2. If warranty is out call support, they might give you a discount to purchase a new tracker. The discount code will expire after a month.
3. Go with a different brand.
There is no fix to this. I don't understand why us the consumer has to pay for an issue that we can't control and didn't create. Fitbit really has left us hanging in this one. 👎
