Hi. When I woke this morning my Charge 3 was already showing 17,000 steps. I didn't do that amount the day before, so it's not even as if it's carried through. It's syncing OK with the app and is showing yesterdays correct step count, so I don't know what is happening!

I would recommend restarting your Fitbit Charge 3 by following these instructions.
If your Fitbit account is connected to a third party app or if you have manually logged an activity on your Fitbit account, please make sure the information in both cases doesn't match the time you were wearing your Fitbit Charge 3 otherwise it could overwrite your data.
For instructions on how to delete the extra data, please visit this article and open the menu "How do I delete steps and floors in the Fitbit app?".
