I've had several different fitbits over the years and have never been disappointed... Until now. No matter how I set my stride, my mileage (and I assume my steps) are very short. I walk four miles and it shows maybe three miles. This may be the Fitbit that causes me to change brands. So disappointed!!

Welcome to the Fitbit Community, @Ellensc.
I appreciate your participation in the Forums and sharing your concern about your mileage and steps not being tracked accurately. Thanks for trying to resolve this by setting your stride length. I totally understand how you are feeling as you've been a Fitbit customer for a long time and I am here to help. If you feel that your step count and distance are inaccurate, confirm the following are correct in the Fitbit app:
I also recommend restarting your device by following the steps from this help article: How do I restart my Fitbit device?
Please find more information about steps and distance calculation, confirm the steps to measure your stride length, and review our tips to make sure your Fitbit daily activity is accurate at How does my Fitbit device calculate my daily activity?
Keep me posted on the outcome. I'll be around if you have any additional questions.

I am sorry to hear the issue persists. In order to investigate further, I would like to confirm how do you track your walks and compare the results? For more information about tracking workouts, see How do I track my workouts with my Fitbit device?
Looking forward to hearing back from you.

I have done my walks both using the exercise tracker and not using it. Either way it shorts me at least one mile and about 20 steps for every 100 I actually take. It seems as though this is a common complaint among the owners of this particular fitbit. Does fitbit have a solution for everyone?
thank you
