My Charge 3 isn't counting steps correctly. I suspected this yesterday and have been testing it out this morning. I walked around and manually counted my steps and looked at my Fitbit and was getting a crazy low step count. Like I would count 100 and the Fitbit would record 3.

Try restarting it several times and then do a step test. Walk 100 paces on a straight line (rather than meandering) in a normal walking gait and see how ,any steps your tracker shows. It should be within + or - 5 steps.

Welcome to the Forums @mariko2earth and @NellyG thanks for stopping by.
I appreciate all the efforts in trying to fix this issue and would like to know if you followed our friend's recommendation? Did you try the test one more time?
Hope to hear from you soon.

I find my Charge 3 is very inaccurate in counting my steps. I think about 1/2 my steps are being counted. Whenever I do the 100-step test, I get wildly differing results. Sometimes the count is close, other times it is way off. Resetting does not seem to make a difference. I think steps that I take on carpet and/or in stocking feet are very often not counted. Many of my steps also involve pushing my husband's wheelchair and/or carrying objects in both hands. Those activities are actually more exercise than just taking steps, so it is particularly annoying that those steps are severely under-counted. Is this just the nature of the beast?
