Hi @barbie2584, Welcome aboard! I hope you're doing well, I moved your post to Charge 3 boards as you have a more specific question.

I'm sorry to hear that the synchronization of your Charge 3 it's not easy to accomplish. I recommend you to check all the requirements listed in this article: Why won't my Fitbit device sync?

If all those requirements are in order, you can try removing the tracker from your phone's Bluetooth settings with all devices listed there too. Restart your phone and your tracker. Now add the tracker to the Bluetooth list and reopen the app to start a sync.

Finally, if those steps don't help I would like to know what phone are you using to try to synchronize. This to check the compatibility with the Fitbit app.

Hope that helps, let me know how it goes!Cat Happy

I am using Galaxy 9+. Really can't deal with constantly rebooting, kicking off app every day, logging on and off. Just work. Spent a lot of money for phone and every app works but Fitbit.

Thank you very much for your response @barbie2584

I can confirm your device it's compatible with our app. If you haven't already done so I would like to suggest you to check the following requirements :

  • Make sure the latest version of the Fitbit app is installed on your phone.
  1. Tap the Play Store app.
  2. Tap or click the menu icon in the top left corner.
  3. Tap My apps & games. If the Fitbit app has an update, you’ll see it in the Updates list.
  4. Tap Update.

If your apps update automatically, check the Recently updated or Up to date list to see if the Fitbit app was updated.

  • The software on your mobile device is up to date. To check, tap Settings > General > Software Update.
  • Make sure there are no other Bluetooth devices around as they might interfere with the syncing process.
  • The Fitbit app is allowed to run in the background on your phone. For more information, see Why is the Fitbit app sending a notification to my Android phone?

Hope that helps, let me know how it goes. Have a nice weekend! Cat Happy

Please uncheck "solved" because it isn't.

Yeah, I totally agree.  I just got the charge 3 and it is constantly having issues, including the sync.  I have it on all day sync and it won't.  I have to manually open the app and drag it down to work.  Even then, if it does sync it takes forever, or it says tracker not found.  I have repeatedly rebooted my phone, and the tracker, along with updating the app and it keeps happening.  My heart rate chart is also not working.  It stopped after tuesday.  It shows my sleep and resting heart rate, but won't show my cardio and exercise heart rates and zones, which is annoying as I really like seeing my progression when I work out.  I didn't have any of these issues with the charge 2.  I'm regretting the "upgrade".

Thank you for your reply @barbie2584 and @ANTIGONEELECTRA

@barbie2584, can you please provide more details? Have you checked the requirements listed in my previous post

@ANTIGONEELECTRA, I'm sorry to hear that you're having difficulties to sync your Charge 3. Thanks for trying the troubleshoot. You can also try removing the tracker from your phone's Bluetooth settings with all devices listed there too. Restart your phone and your tracker. Now add the tracker to the Bluetooth list and reopen the app to start a sync.

If those steps don't help, I would like to know what phone are you using to try to synchronize. This to check the compatibility with the Fitbit app. You can get more information about compatible devices in this page.

I'm on Android, it's like Fitbit doesn't give a **ahem** about Android..

Not sure what your return policy is but I'm considering returning it over the weekend...so disappointing, come on Fitbit it's 2019 lol

I actually have a Samsung and my previous Charge 2 never had a problem with it.  I think it's the new Charge 3.

Update

Hi,
I have a compatible phone, Samsung S8+.  I never had a problem with the Charge 2.  I have again just deleted and reinstalled the app, restarted my phone, unpaired the Bluetooth and paired again, as well, as the tracker.  I can have my phone on me all day and even though it is set to all day sync, it won't.  It will only sync once I have opened the app and let it sit for a minute to do it.  I also know it is catching my heart rate, yet it won't display it on the apps heart rate chart (since March 5) either as a resting heart rate (on top of the page) over time or as a function of daily exercise (below per day).  It also states 0 of 5 days of exercise goals this week even though I have done the same amount of exercise as previously.  I am hazarding a guess the information is simply not transferring over to the app.

Thank you for getting back to us @ANTIGONEELECTRA and @Dfresh13

If your device still won't sync, you can try these:

  1. Make sure there are no other Bluetooth devices around as they might interfere with the syncing process
  2. Force quit the Fitbit app.
  3. Go to Settings > Bluetooth and turn Bluetooth off and back on.
  4. Open the Fitbit app.
  5. Restart your phone.
  6. Restart your Charge 3.
  7. If your Fitbit device won't sync after the restart, log in to your Fitbit account on a different compatible phone, tablet, or computer and try to sync.
  8. If your Fitbit device still doesn’t sync, remove all other Fitbit devices from your account and from the list of connected Bluetooth devices on your mobile device and try to sync.

@Dfresh13, if that didn't help I would like to know exactly what Samsung phone are you using to try the synchronizationTo know more about our warranty policy click here

I hope this can be helpful, give it a try and keep me posted. Have a nice weekend!

Please stop sending me the same advice that is not a solution. I like to sync every day and I don't wish to do this each time. Not solved.

You could look at your phones battery settings. Android use aggressive battery optimisation. This worked for me on huewai p20 https://youtu.be/a91CDZh3LlQ

Thank you for the link. It is a good video. My battery settings are not the same as his (I have a 9+) therefore I couldn't do step 3. Thanks though!

This problem is not solved. The responses don’t even address my real problem. My problem is the charge 3 sync time varies widely from 30 seconds to 5 minutes. If I pair a charge 2 to the same phone, it consistently sync in 30 seconds. Wake up fitbit, there is a problem with the charge 3. Unless this can be fixed with a firmware update, I have purchased my last fitbit product.

I have an iPhone max plus and have the same issues.

I tried all the trouble shooting and nothing seems to work.

This wearable device does not sync within the expected time frame, It requires being on a network, won't sync with cellular data and might take up to 10" for one or two days of data. The texts are received on the Charge 3 very inconsistently so I am considering pitching for an Apple Watch. I have a heart rate issue and hoped to be able to monitor but now am skeptical of data. My friend with an earlier Fitbit registers 2000 steps more than I on the same hike. This is another reason I am dubious there is value in the product. I have tried all the fixes but the problem just recurs.

Best Answer

This is very true, the sync is very slow. There was no problem like that with Fitbit Charge 2. I blame poor software design. It is either software on the device itself or the IOS software (not sure if this problem affects iPhones) The amount of data needing transfer is not significant and as I can see - many people are affected. I find this frustrating that with such a a huge impact on the community the issue still hasn't been addressed properly and the software developers still did not find the fix (or not worked on it at all which would not surprise me).

Worth considering moving to another fitness watch vendor if all Fitbit moderators can do is to point us to the useless troubleshooting steps and turn off/on solutions. This is obviously not a problem with the end user set-up and calling this thread "Solved" only shows the lack of professional  attitude and support at Fitbit.. Big shame after really good start with previous models..

Best Answer

I totally agree. I will not be purchasing Fitbit products in the future. Responses provided by Fitbit are basically unresponsive to the real issue. The issue is that they seem to be the only ones who can’t make Bluetooth work properly. I have many devices that use Bluetooth and only Fitbit has problems

Best Answer is  fine for those who cannot synchronise, but it doesn't help those of us  for whom the synchronise (in my case a Charge3) is extremely slow; plus, it sometimes waits all day to synchronise, with no updates of steps during the day (wifi and Blue tooth are switched on). For example, I went to the gym yesterday about 3pm and ran 6k; later that evening, I checked my phone app (I had the phone with me in the gym, incidentally) to see what my steps total was. It was still showing the 160 steps from when i checked first thing that morning. It took about 20 minutes to synchronise to show my steps total for the day (18k). With my last Fitbit, the Alta, the steps updates were pretty much instant, as was the sleep breakdown; and I thought the Charge3 was an upgrade! I get that Charge3 is synchronising more info than the Alta, but often the wait time is ridiculous. It takes about 10 minutes to show my sleep breakdown first thing in the morning.

Best Answer

I do not agree that this problem is solved. I am on Charge 3, and it takes forever to sync. The heart rate is the slowest. No matter how much I pull the app to sync, the heart rate wont get updated. It will only sync the next day. I am on Note 10 and I dont think this is a device issue. Been like this ever since I changed to Charge 3. Are they any fixes  from fitbit in the pipeline ? Am rethinking my options now.
