Charge 3 won't sync to Android phone

Replies are disabled for this topic. Start a new one or visit our Help Center.

I had already tried to set it up as new device on my Android phone but, although my phone"saw" the FB3 during the set up, it couldn't connect with it. It did not connect or synch until I unpaired it completely with Bluetooth on my phone- and did NOT re-pair it. Then it started synching!? What is that about?? My new theory is that it is not as waterproof as advertised and I've been taking it off while in shower or washing dishes and so far, so good. But, nonetheless, this charge 3 has problemsthat need to be corrected ASAP!!

It's nice to see you around the forums @8113sally! Have you checked if your phone is included in our list of supported devices? You can see: Which phones and tablets can I use with my Fitbit watch or tracker?

If your phone is compatible with the Fitbit app and your Charge 3 is not syncing, try the troubleshooting steps provided in the article: Why won't my Fitbit device sync?

Give this a shot and let me know the outcome!

My Moto Droid is a supported device and was synched for a month before
these issues began. I did everything in your recommendations except that
the Fitbit App would not uninstall when I tried to do that. There was also
no response when I tried to force stop the app. It's as if this app is
impossible to remove! However, after I stopped wearing the tracker in the
shower or while submerged in other water, it has been synching. It just
spontaneously started synching about 24 hours after I took it off. There's
definitely something funky and unreliable with this device

Hmmm... this is very strange @8113sally. Thanks for sharing with me those details, I'll keep an eye on that.

I'd recommend restarting your Charge 3 to refresh it internally:

  1. Plug the charging cable into the USB port on your computer or any UL-certified USB wall charger.
  2. Clip the other end of the charging cable to the port on the back of the tracker. The pins on the charging cable must lock securely with the port.
  3. Make sure the button on your tracker is aligned with the button opening on the charging cable. You’ll know the connection is secure when the tracker vibrates and you see a battery icon on your tracker’s display.
  4. Press and hold the button on your tracker for 8 seconds. Release the button. When you see a smile icon and the tracker vibrates, the tracker restarted.
  5. Unplug your tracker from the charging cable.

Test your tracker the next couple of days and let me know if there's anything else I may assist you with.

I just talked with customer support and still no resolution to problem. I really think Fitbit should offer a refund or replacement for this defective product. They should also discontinue selling the Charge 3 until it is working properly with the Android cellphone.

So the Oneplus 6 is listed, but not the Oneplus 6T. And, it doesn't sync. It did sporadically, but now nothing. Am I to understand that the Oneplus 6T is incompatible with the fitbit Charge 3?

Were you able to find a solution? My wife's unit is totally unreliable syncing with her Motorola G4 play

I actually sent an email to Fitbit corporate and wound up getting a replacement watch. The new has worked without the major issues. I really think it might be a bug in the chip. Not sure if this helps, but for now watch performs satisfactory.

I have a Huawei P10. It's an android phone. I've been having the same issues. I never get notifications to my Fitbit 3. I just cleared all my user data on my Fitbit. It synced in two seconds after that. And I just received a text notification. Super weird.

This is happening with my Charge 3 tracker. The only time the Charge 3 reliably synchs is when the battery is completely charged. I also notice that my battery doesn't last five days anymore, more like 3 days. To me, this is an indication that the battery has a lot of serial resistance in it. And when the Bluetooth function is used, the serial resistance makes the voltage drop where the Bluetooth transmitter works marginally at best. So, I think there is a battery issue.
