My son has a Charge 4 with a Premium 3 month trial. When I try to activate the trial I get an error code 1000 or 1004 and a message ‘Please check your payment details in your iTunes account’.  Is this because his Apple account is linked to mine and how do I fix it?

Hi @MikeyJR ! Nice to see you around. Thank you for your report. It seems that your account is not allowed the in App purchases. 

To turn in app purchases on, go to Setting> Screentime> Content & Privacy Restrictions> iTunes & App Store Purchases> In-app Purchases> Allow. 
Hopefully this helps!
