My charge 4 worked perfectly fine before the update yeserday, but after updating it is completely ruined. My device shuts off and is completely unresponsive when i remove it from the charger. Everything works while its on the charger. I've contacted 2 different fitbit help support people and they both ran me through the basic process of retsrating the device which I have already done multiple times. I recieved an email this morning telling me that the device is no longer protected by warranty and that I should buy a new one with a provided discount... this device worked perfect yesterday, why is it ruined today?

It is ridiculous that you are told to purchase a new device. I experienced some difficulty after updating yesterday-- I tried charging my fitbit and it said it was already charged and the smiley face appeared. I panicked but kept trying and restarted the fitbit and tried again. Fortunately, it did charge the battery after three tries. So far, it continues to work and I hope it stays this way as I am not interested in updating....

I'm having the same issue. Looks like it's affecting many of us according to the Community. Reported to Fitbit and all they did was send me a 35% off coupon. Ridiculous since it was fine before the update

I can't understand why that is the only solution. Especially because it's affecting many people, there should be a better fix.

Rebooting my Fitbit Charge 4 has fixed charging, and other weird issues for me.
I reboot it every other time it needs a recharge, and haven't had an issue for over 2 years.

Their willingness to offer a 35% coupon toward a new fitbit makes me wonder if that's the goal to begin with--having us upgrade to the newer version! Food for thought!

Apparently, it is the only solution because there is an end goal. If that's the case, it's sad all the same!

How do you know when it needs a recharge, and for what reasons is the recharge warranted? I never receive notifications about recharging and only do so if it stops working or is slow in responding. For example, I only recharged two days ago after experiencing some minor issues with the upgrade. Are you saying that you get notices for recharging? I've had my fitbit charge 4 for a little over two years too (I'm sharing this with fingers crossed as I don't want to jinx myself, but I've had little issues here and then, especially earlier on. Also, it my fourth Fitbit as I've had other versions and had issues with blank screens or broken bands. Thanks!

Hi, @Lexy3, In the "Today" screen of your Fitbit app on the mobile phone sync by sliding your finger down and releasing, the green progress bar will indicate syncing, once complete note the value next to the battery icon. Why isn't my Fitbit device's battery charging? provides guidance and advice if charging is not occurring when you expect it to.
I hope this helps.
Cheers

I receive an e-mail fromt Fitbit when my Fitbit Charge 4 requires recharging.
I think it's trigger when the battery is below 20%.
I don't recall how I got that feature set up.

Thank you! I recharge my Fitbit daily so that may be the reason I don't receive that message!

Figured I would post an update here. My charge 4 is now working off the charger, but I have no idea why it's suddenly working.

This feature only sometimes works. Rebooting your phone or hard-restarting the app sometimes triggers it to send the notice when the battery is low and it has not yet notified you. It is a nice feature if/when it works, but I find it very unreliable mostly due to the unreliable synching that they are famous for in our various groups. We have quite a few folks in our groups (Android and IOS users) and it is very common they get out of synch for days at a time if they to not make a point to keep an eye on it and take manual steps frequently. This is years now, not a new issue...

That’s good news @Jayfish even if it is a mystery!! Fingers crossed that it stays that way!
