Charge 4 randomly shuts down even when charged

Replies are disabled for this topic. Start a new one or visit our Help Center.

It first started a couple of weeks ago, I went for a run, the charge was around 50%, and it was off when I got back home. I put it on the charger and it instantly turns on and the battery was at 48%.

Fast forward to last night, went to bed, the trackers battery was somewhere in the 40's for % and woke up and it was dead. It never tracked any of my sleep so it shut down early into going to bed. I plugged it in and the battery was in the 40's still for %.

I've forced restart on the charger, and I also restarted it from the device itself, after the first incident and again this morning.

What is going on with it?

Hi @c668. Welcome back to the community forums.

Thank you for sharing this information about the difficulty that you are experiencing with the Charge 4.

Please, take a look at this help article: Can I extend my Fitbit device's battery life?

I'm not sure if you have followed the steps listed in this help article: Why isn't my Fitbit device's battery charging? and try to test the battery one more time.

In addition, please confirm that you have tried to perform a restart as indicated below:

  1. Plug the charging cable into the USB port on your computer or any UL-certified USB wall charger.
  2. Clip the other end of the charging cable to the port on the back of the tracker. The pins on the charging cable must lock securely with the port.
  3. Make sure the button on your tracker is aligned with the button opening on the charging cable. You’ll know the connection is secure when the tracker vibrates and you notice a battery icon on your tracker’s display.
  4. Press and hold the button on your tracker for 8 seconds. Release the button. When you notice a smile icon and the tracker vibrates, the tracker restarted.

OMG ME TOO! I loved my Charge 4 so when it died last February after 3-4 years I just got another one. It does the same thing. Randomly just goes totally dead. Today I had trouble even getting it to charge, and the thing is only 6 months old VERY frustrating. Charged it yesterday and today it died when I put it on this morning.... could be my LAST Fitbit.... argh.

Welcome to the forums @KWolder

Thank you for providing the details regarding the previous device that you used, the Charge 4. Thanks for letting us know about the new Charge 4 and for trying to fix it on your own.

May I know if you tried the steps listed in the articles mentioned above?

Have you been using any specific features in the last few days that you didn't use in the previous days?

For instance, if you use GPS, use phone GPS to allow the tracker to connect to your nearby phone’s GPS sensors. For more information, see How do I use GPS on my Fitbit device?

I have tried every possible kind of fix there is. Now it has stopped
monitoring my heart rate. I called fitbit today and found out (at least
this is what they told me), that the Charge 4 sold to me 5 months ago by
Abe's Electronics of Maine (on Amazon) was not actually new - it shows has
having been activated 2 years ago! I got the name of their person (I
tracked them down in Maine) and will try calling them tomorrow.

Thanks for the response, but after restarting, rebooting, recharging,
resynching, and everything else that endless googling urged me to try I've
about given up.. 😞

@KWolder thanks for the response.

Sorry to know the experience that you are having with the device.

The Charge 4 is actually not one of the newer devices that Fitbit sells and retailers are aware of the lifespan of each of them. I hope that was able to clear up what happened.

Ive tried all the steps,  I've forced restarted it a multitude of times. It charges no problem but never keeps it charged. Just this past weekend,  the battery was around 60%, i was in the middle of a 9 mile trek and it died around mile 7, when i got home and plugged it in,  it immediately said it was at 58%.

I have exactly the same problem, with my Charge 4 shutting down randomly, when I try to charge it it shows 40 - 80% charged, will synch, and then "disappears", any thoughts on what is going on, and how to fix it?

the problems started about two weeks ago...
