Charge 4 screen is too dim

I threw out my fitbit charge 3 after 2 years  because the screen was so dim now my charge 4 has the same problem. Do they only have a 2yr life? It is so dim that I can't go into settings & a reset only produced a very faint smiley face. What use is a watch if you can't read the time, reluctant to buy another fitbit

Hello there, @Silverstud. Thanks for trying to troubleshoot the issue with your Charge 4 before reaching out. I understand how you must be feeling.

To better assist you, please make sure you've restarted your Fitbit device as suggested here How do I restart my Fitbit device?. If the restart doesn't work try to change your clock face. If this fixes the issue, you can change your clock face back to the original clock face.

If the above doesn't work, please check if your Charge 4 is in sleep mode. When the sleep mode setting is on:

  • Notifications don't cause the tracker to vibrate or the screen to turn on.
  • The screen's brightness is set to dim.
  • Turning your wrist won't cause the tracker’s screen to turn on.

I have this problem, too and have tried resetting and changing the clock face but neither work. I can't afford to replace it right now but need a watch for work.

I recently started having this issue with my Charge 4 too.  I cannot read the screen unless I am in very dim light.  Daytime is useless for viewing.  All other functions and syncs are fine, the screen brightness has just taken a dive recently.  My Charge 4 is about 30 months old.  Battery charges and lasts about 5 days.

So far I have:

- toggled between all brightness settings.

- rebooted it for both 8 seconds and 15 seconds

- changed the clock face to another and then back to the original

Next I'll twirl around 3 times and tap my heels twice?

Nothing seems to work.  I have to pull my phone out to see what time it is!
