Charge 4 unresponsive

I got my charge 4 in like 2019 and to be honest, used it for like 3 months then forgot about it until now. I have it and its charger and when i click the button on the side it vibrates but the screen stays off. I have tried holding button for 30seconds for factory reset and still nothing. Any help?

Hi there @BarraLynch

A warm welcome to the Fitbit Community!

Thank you for letting us know that your Charge 4 is not charging and for all your efforts.

Dust and debris can accumulate over time. Clean the charging contacts on the back of your Charge 4 and the pins on your charging cable using the instructions in How do I clean my Fitbit device? Then leave your device plugged in to the charging cable for at least 30 minutes. After 30 minutes try to restart your Fitbit too:

If your tracker is unresponsive:

  1. Plug the charging cable into the USB port on your computer or any UL-certified USB wall charger.
  2. Clip the other end of the charging cable to the port on the back of the tracker. The pins on the charging cable must lock securely with the port.
  3. Make sure the button on your tracker is aligned with the button opening on the charging cable. You’ll know the connection is secure when the tracker vibrates and you notice a battery icon on your tracker’s display.
  4. Press and hold the button on your tracker for 8 seconds. Release the button. When the tracker vibrates and shows a smile icon, the tracker has restarted.

Hello Fatima

I am experiencing the same issue as BarraLynch.

My Fitbit display has gone completely dark and unresponsive. The side button works and vibrates when presses. My battery is fully charged (100%) and my device is syncing steps etc. to the Fitbit app.

I've tried restarting my device just like you recommended and after 8 seconds the smiley face appears, however the screen goes dark immediately after.

How can I proceed?

Hi there @LiseDustring!

A warm welcome to the Fitbit Community!

Thank you so much for letting us know that you're having the same situation with your Charge 4 being unresponsive and for all your efforts.

Have you already tried to change the clock face?

  • With your device nearby, in the Fitbit app, tap the Today tab and then the devices icon (upper left corner) and then your device.
  • Tap Gallery and then Clocks tab.
  • Browse the available clock faces. Tap the clock face you want and then Install.
  • Sync your Charge 4 with the Fitbit app.

Hi again!
Thank you so much for your quick response.

I left my device in the charger and when I came back to it a couple of hours later the screen was finally working 🙌🏻

I don't know why it worked because my device was already fully charged.

But thank you for your suggestions - I'll keep them in mind in case the problem should return.

Hi Fatima, I’m also experiencing this issue.
My watch vibrates and shows the green light. It tracks my steps, sleep, heart rate etc still and I can see all of this in the app on my phone.
however the screen won’t come on at all. I’ve tried cleaning the charger and the watch, I’ve tried hard resetting, I’ve tried changing the clock face and no luck. If you have any more suggestions I’d be grateful, at the moment the only thing it can’t do is tell me the time!
