Charge HR stuck on update

Hiya folks

I have ended up with a Fitbit Charge HR from a box of various items I purchased, the charger was there so I though great stuff and plugged it in only to be met with a bar, which upon various searches and the forums here I have found to be something to do with a firmware update?

i have tried all the methods found online and even spoken to a Fitbit customer care(who wasn’t very helpful I must say)..... basically she informed me that without connecting it to the original app it’s registered to whilst the update was happening that I basically have a non fixable item in my possession!

i find this very hard to believe that it cannot be de registered and re registered?!........ any help or advice would be so appreciated as I hate the idea of having to throw it away! TIA

If you hold down the button on the side for 20-30 seconds, it should reset. That may not help, but it's a solution that is suggested for a plethora of FitBit problems. Unfortunately, when a FitBit dies, it can also leave you with that bar.

Another suggestion is to leave it plugged in for awhile, the battery may need a good charge.

Thanks for the reply, I will try these suggestions, when you say they “die” what has caused that to happen? 

I’m thinking it’s a lost cause but got to try get some money back from my investment 😁

The first one I had that died after 10 months stopped showing time/etc when it was not plugged in. FitBit tech support had me try to update it and it got stuck in the update bar and never worked again. The second just stopped charging. I think the Li-ion battery died and unfortunately, the battery is not easy to replace (it's soldered in).

Sounds most likely to be dead hence being dumped in a box of items in storage ...... gutted

Quick update, I plugged it in green lights flash but no vibration, the half load bar appears, held the button down after few seconds screen goes blank and green lights flash again then same screen reappears? ........ I’m not one to give in easily so will continue to try all suggestions TIA

Mine does the same thing! Be nice to get a definite reason as to why this is happening. Mine is brand new!
