I have never had much luck using the connected GPS function with my charge 2 and an android phone. For many months, I would see the phone icon with a dash through it, and then the message "check Fitbit app", which was of no help whatsoever. But now the phone icon doesn't even show up, so I can never get a map or distance statistics when walking or riding a bike. I have checked all of the settings, Fitbit and the phone sync easily, so they are connected. I have reset my Fitbit, and the phone, turned Bluetooth on and off, etc. How can I get connected GPS to work? Thanks for any advice.

When it says check Fitbit app. It is asking you to make sure that it is running. All you need is notification services. And the phones power management can not be controlling the Fitbit app.
I usually simply restart the phone and get a gps connection a minute before the phone iOS powered fully up.
For now make sure gps is enabled. Fitbit app /Charge 2/ exercise. Tap the setting gear next to the desired exercise.

Thank you for your reply.
When I am intending to exercise i always have the Fitbit app running. I can have just synced the watch and the phone, step outside to begin my exercise, and the phone icon would have line through it, and it will say check Fitbit app. What is there to check apart from the fact that it is running? It still doesn't work. I have done all the steps you have suggested, but as I said now I don't even get the phone icon. Any further steps?

Let's first look to see why you do not get the phone icon.
Can you check the settings to see if GPS is turned on for the desired exercise? See the end of my last post.

I had some time to play around with the Fitbit app, so i deleted the exercises i that were using Connected GPS and then added them back in, and lo and behold the phone icon reappeared when i tried those exercises, and it worked! this feature has not worked for months for me, so thank you for prompting to play with the settings again.
