Mine counted me doing 35 flights of stairs while I ran so I cant delete that section of time. I was running on complete flat ground with no elevation change.

Makes wonder if there was a change in atmospheric pressure (dropping), which I have read may be seen by the fitbit as going up (especially if you are in motion).
Flex (Christmas 2014), ChargeHR (Christmas 2015). Wife is using the Flex now! Nope, that Flex has died. Alta ordered 12/15/16 as Flex replacement. So far, she likes it. Nope, alta battery only lasts 2 days, started at 7. Support contacted 12/7/17. Hope warranty covers it.

Why do I have to keep rebooting my fitbit to get it to properly count floors? I do not want to have to constantly make corrections in my dashboard as you sugges in the article. I am not at all happy with the fitbit chare hr that I purchased. It has been nothing but trouble.

I do have a similar problem with my Fitbit Surge. Bought it mid of January and it worked fine till 24th of February. Since 25th of February the floor count is a total nonsense. Sometimes I wake up in the morning and have already 8 floors done.
Last Sunday I was out with wife and daughter and my Surge recorded 188 (!!!) floors. Even walking on a flat road it counted a floor each 10 to 15 steps I made. I watched it counting while walking.
I still have to see how to eliminate these wrong data and wrongly achieved badges. I wish the CS team finds a real solution 🙂

The article you posted wasn't very clear.. I was able to pull up the data range but am not seeing where I can change the activity to driving, I have not entered any activities.

My step count went weird for my Charge HR after applying the most recent update last Friday. Now the same walk i do with my dog is recording floor count into the hundreds. There are no stairs on walk but i do have an elevation change. Today i did more floors (202) than the Burj Khalifa for the short walk. http://i.imgur.com/mPZWmpU.png

I gave up on the stair counts on my Charge HR a long time ago. I just removed that from the device view and from the app home screen. Since I've had the thing which was at least 3 software versions ago and it's never counted even close. I always wake up with like 12 flights and have had sedentary days at home and I have like 60 flights.

I read your 'restart' instructions because I'm having the issue of floors not logging. Will try it first thing in the morning before I start my day. Will let you know how it goes.

My situation is the same AlFu, for three and a half months has been very accurate in counting the floors then suddenly began to shoot numbers. I'm at home I do a flight of stairs and mark me 14 floors! I can not indicate I was driving!!! In this way I've gone from 10 floors in rest days to 40 floors and no longer know the plans I rose during the training days.
I was thinking of buying the scale Aria, now I think I will leave fitbit for some other manufacturer.

It's very hard for me to do stairs, so I'm happy when my fitbit Charge HR adds floors; it makes up for some of the times when it doesn't count all my daily floors; but I feel like fitbit still owes me some floors!
Current problems just started. My 2x-great niece double tapped my fitbit and it started the stop watch; now it won't STOP!!
SIGH....

It's nice to see you guys around the Community @Malati @49RPB5 @Craftman !
Your tracker detects floors using an altimeter, which is a sensor that calculates altitude based on atmospheric pressure. Atmospheric pressure decreases with increasing elevation, so the tracker calculates elevation gain based on the reduction in atmospheric pressure. Your tracker registers a floor when it detects continuous motion combined with an elevation gain of 7 to 10 feet.
Your tracker may give you credit for extra floors for a variety of reasons. Occasionally your tracker may detect pressure changes unrelated to elevation gains, such as a gust of wind, weather change, or opening a door. Exposure to excess moisture can also result in extra floors being counted. This happens if the pathway to the altimeter on the back of your tracker becomes temporarily blocked with sweat or water. We recommend that your tracker be worn loosely during exercise.
If you want to remove floors from your account do the steps posted here.
Have a nice day guys!

@MarreFitbit thanks MarreFitbit! I have, through intense scientific study, SOLVED why I (and some others) may sometimes get floor counts that are too high -- the ONLY time I get inaccurate floor counts is when I am on my treadmill AND i have the treadmill fan turned on. For instance, today I did an hour and 15 minutes and registered as 90 floors, the other day I did 35 and had 34 floors.
I usually don't use the treadmill fan, but for whatever reason (somebody may know it), there for me is 100% correlation between use of the treadmill fan and increased floor count.
Not sure if others have this, but it was an epiphany for me, and life gives so few epiphanies...
Have a great day
