Cycling distance not displayed on activity dashboard

Do do cycle a lot and have started to track my distance using my Charge 3. Frustratingly the distance cycled does not show on the dashboard and doesn't seem to count toward the total km of the daily activity log.I am sure this is a well known issue but is there any way to add the distance cycle to the daily activity dashboard? We are currently running a sports competition at work where the total distance walked, ran or cycled counts towards the overall fundraising goal.

Hello @VD1220 are you manually starting your bike tracking and using the connected GPS on your phone? This is the only way Fitbit will know the distance that was ridden.

As for bike distance. This does not get added to the days distance since this was not stepping.

Thanks Rich!

yes I am starting my exercise activity manually on my Fitbit and use my iPhone for the GPS tracking.

I still find it very difficult to understand why Fitbid has decided not to add road cycled distances to the daily exercise distance. Its clear that I have exercised from the pulse rate readings. If there has to be an associated step count the app could allow to define an average cadence and bike tire size which would be sufficient to translate the cycled distance back to 'steps'. I find it really frustrating as I am cycling a lot and none of that appears in the dashboard and is subsequently handed over to other apps such as MoveSpring which we use at work for exercise competitions.

Your title states that Cycling Distance not displayed on the exercise dashboard. My answer was based on the fitbit not able to record the distance of the bike ride. As for cycle distance on the daily summary of steps walked. Bike distance is not added since this fists a was not covered by stepping. Many feel that this would be unfair with challenges, if that is the reason is fitbit users may never know.

Is there a way to go back to the old behaviour, where Fitbit tracks "activity" instead of only steps.

I'm not sure of the old way @sserf Fitbit has been using burned calories as the common factor between exercises.
