We were using Fitbit Charge 3 devices to carry out a student research project that was supposed to collect data in a time span of 2 weeks. Since children wore the devices, they weren't instructed to download the app and synchronize the devices daily to minimize the risks of changing the default settings, minimize the burden on the children and their parents, and also to minimize the possible reactivity of the children in response to the devices. One note, the devices were synchronized twice, before giving them to the children and after the children returned the devices. We tried the basic export method to Excel and also exporting the data archive.
Our problem is that the data for the period of interest is missing, especially data related to sleeping. Some data is available, but mostly for the most recent days before the second synchronization.
Answers to two questions are therefore of interest. Firstly, why is the data missing, is this common when devices aren't synchronized during the period of e.g. two weeks? Secondly, is it possible to retrieve this data if it is stored somewhere?
Every little bit of help would be appreciated.

Welcome to the Fitbit Community, @antonio_mar.
I'm sorry to hear about the difficulties you experienced with your Fitbit Charge 3.
Charge 3 stores your data, including daily stats, sleep information, and exercise history, for 7 days. There is no option to retrieve data not synced.
For more information, please visit the User Manual.
Have a nice day.

Dear @EdsonFitbit ,
thank you for the replay regarding this issue. We accepted the fact that we wouldn't be able to get the data we need for this student research project but we are only trying to understand everything we can about how these devices work.
We were also wondering why were some of the data saved (i.e., activity-related data) even after this period of 7 days and not other data (i.e., sleep). To be more specific, we managed to export this data from devices that were worn by some of the participants while others had no data at all (activity-related or sleep-related).
Again, thank you in advance for your feedback.
