I am having the exact same problem. Plus, my phone screen will not come up without pressing the side button. It has always worked. I know there
'was' something on the app that allowed me to get the notifications going and the screen to light up. There is nothing there right now. The notifications don't turn on when I press in the side button like it used to do. I have turned off the phone for an extended period and I tried the 'reset' by holding the side button in for more than 10 seconds. I really like it when the face plate 'just' comes on when I move my wrist--not 100% of the time, but mostly.
I assume the above makes sense to the moderator above; you might know, it doesn't make much sense to me. : )

The same things are affecting my Charge 3 as modmad described. I have updated my phone and the Fitbit android app. What else can we do? Return it? I have only had it since the beginning of August.

So after my updates I realized there must be a way to reboot my watch. I found the information on rebooting and followed the instructions. I seem to be getting notifications from texting.

I am still not getting notifications after I did the reboot. But, thank you for writing.
I think there is some issue with the Fitbit. My Charge 3 is not even a year old--it is 9 mos old.
When I push in the side button, DND and Sleep come up; not notifications.
I would appreciate feed back from the moderator, or better still a phone number for customer service.
