Exercise auto tracking not working

Replies are disabled for this topic. Start a new one or visit our Help Center.

Both my wife and I have noticed that auto tracking of exercise is not working and syncing cycling rides. I searched the forums for possible solutions and tried restarting my charge 2 three times to no avail.  I would be thrilled to know what has actually worked, as the autotrack feature is one of the nicer things about the charge and manually logging the exercise doesn’t give us the same stats, such as how heart rate graphs along with ride intervals we do on our mountain bike team.  Thanks in advance for your help.

@Robmac2 Welcome! It's great to see you around!

Let me help you with your bike detection and thank you for troubleshooting this issue. Your device detects activities based on the motion on your arm. The automatic detection is a feature called SmartTrack. For example when using the elliptical machine make sure you have the moving bars so your device detects the motion and record the activity itself, once an Elliptical activity is saved on your account it should show on the Recent Exercise area. It could be that your tracker isn't detecting too much movement so it makes the detection difficult. Have you tried using your tracker itself to record your activity. If you have then please follow these instructions.

Let me know how it goes.

It would seem your algorithm would be based on heart rate during exercise instead of movement in this case.  Road cyclists are not moving their arms much. I had 2 hours of intense cycling intervals and was not auto detected.  I have to believe there’s a known issue with so many posts and I hope Fitbit is working it out.
