Fitbit Charge HR Won't connect to phone

Replies are disabled for this topic. Start a new one or visit our Help Center.

I bought a Fitbit charge HR, but it won't connect to my phone. It is giving me the code, but when it put it in my phone it keeps saying "connecting". I've tried deleting the app and restarting my phone but it is still not working.

I just upgraded my fitbit to the hr 3 which is working fine, but having a major problem (as are you) syncing my Charge hr to my girlfriends s9.

Tried all the steps mentioned above but still no joy, very annoying.

I had to get my 1st HR replaced as the straps came off after about 9 months of use, atleast the new HR has clip on straps, but still can't believe they are having software issues with older devices.

Would be great to hear if anyone gets this problem solved, as its stuck at the "connecting" stage, like everyone else.

Thanks for your reply.
Funnily enough, my new phone is also a Samsung S9.
Is there a problem connecting to these phones?
Anyone else having similar problems?

It may have been previously set up to a different account.  Perform a factory reset with your usb cord and start fresh.  I find its best to do with your laptop or computer.  You can Google - How do I factory reset my charge or charge hr?

I purchased my fitbit new so it will not have been connected to a different account, and it worked for some time, including with this phone.  In desperation I have done a factory reset but nothing actually works for longer than on day.

The frustration levels are not great, even worse as FitBit themselves seem to be completely ignoring this issue.

Right, you have just let me know what I need to know.  Not another fitbit will I get.  Apparently the watch that I have had for 3 years that could connect to my phone actually is not compatible with a very common, recent phone and this has only happened in the past month.

Can anyone on this forum recommend a decent fitness tracker that will connect to a Samsung A3 2017?  Clearly fitbit is not the way to go anymore.

Hey SantiFitbit,

Thank you for not taking the time to actually read my reply.  I DID ALL OF THAT AS NOTED IN MY ORIGINAL REPLY.   Seeing as you clearly took the time to read my response you may have also missed I have to factory reset it every few days to keep it linked.  Your canned response does nothing to help this and it's blatantly clear FitBit could gives two craps either.  Enjoy your day.

Hi everyone,

I had the same problem, and tried all of your suggestions without any result… what actually helped was to RESET my Charge HR (https://help.fitbit.com/articles/en_US/Help_article/1606) and to remove the device from my Fitbit App / Dashboard. I synced the "new" device and voilà, it finally works / syncs.

Hope this helps you out!

Done that multiple times.  It will then connect and sync for a day.  To me that means it is not working.

Hey SantiFitbit,

Could you please explain to me how and why it is possible for my tracker to connect with my phone, a Samsung A3 2017 (which is according to the list not compatible) but only temporarily.  I reset up my fitbit to my phone in August 2018 after not using it for a while.  It connected and synced with no problem until December 2018.  Now it will not sync even when I follow your instructions.  The only way I can get it to connect is to do a factory reset on the tracker, and then it only connects and syncs for a day.

So please can someone from FitBit tell me what has changed that my Charge HR which was connecting no longer is and no longer will.

Thanks

Hi everyone! Good to see you in the Fitbit Community Forums! 🙂

@Dozy1, I'm sorry about this. This actually happens because when it comes to devices compatibility, for the devices that are not on the list, you might be able to sync with them but we don't guarantee that the functionality will be optimum as we are still testing on these phone models and due to the large number of Android and Windows devices, our team has not yet tested all of them. We're continually adding more devices and improving our compatibility, so if you don't see your device on the list check back soon.

Alternatively, you can use the Fitbit app for Windows 10 on your computer, or use Fitbit Connect to sync with a Mac or Windows 8.1 computer to access your data and take advantage of the many features of your Fitbit device.

@heathery, I'm sorry about this. Thanks for all your efforts in getting your tracker to connect to your phone. Now, you've mentioned that you've done everything to get this resolved. Can you please give me details of all that you've done so that I can see what else we can try to get you going?

That is awesome @LoloSanz, thanks a lot for taking the time to share this with us. I'm pretty sure many users will find this helpful!

@Dozy1, I'm sorry to hear that. I would say that the reason you're having these issues even when you factory reset your tracker is because your phone is not compatible even when you've been able to sync your tracker to it before.

Keep in mind that when it comes to devices compatibility, for the devices that are not on the list of compatible devices, you might be able to sync with them but we don't guarantee that the functionality will be optimum as we are still testing on these phone models and due to the large number of Android and Windows devices, our team has not yet tested all of them. We're continually adding more devices and improving our compatibility, so if you don't see your device on the list check back soon.

If you guys need more help, I'm always around!

I need it on my phone, not my PC.  If i did not need my tracker to connect to my phone it would not be an issue.

The big question here is do I try a different Fitbit or do I go with a completely different make to avoid these syncing issues?

Thanks for getting back @Dozy1!

I'm very sorry about this situation. At the moment, as long as you use a device that is not compatible, you might not be able to benefit from all the features that a Fitbit tracker has to offer, including basic ones as syncing it to your phone.

So I actually just threw this useless thing out and got a really inexpensive Mi band, which works like you will not believe.  Having a tracker that connect with only the phones in the list provided by fitbit is VERY limiting and I am not prepared to change my phone to have my tracker work.

I am now very happy with what I have, but not happy with the poor service and support given by fitbit.

I am frustrated. I bought a FitBit Charge HR believing I could use it with no problems. I never considered that this was an older model FitBit and it may be retired/uncompatible with my phone. I have an Android Moto Z play droid phone. It synced up, I got the app all settled, things looked good. Then, when the Fitbit Charge HR was on my wrist, IT WOULDN'T TURN ON. At. All. Completely blank. After this, it wouldn't turn on off my wrist, charging, no life in the Fitbit. A brand new Fitbit Charge HR. Seems to be completely uselss and a waste of money. I would have spent more $$ on a newer model that actually works instead of wasting money on this older model. I'm upset.
