Hello @Bethcook. Welcome to the community forums.
Make sure that the brightness on your Charge 3 is set correctly, this setting can be found in the Settings App on your Charge 3. If you have questions about how to navigate your Charge 3, please check: How do I navigate my Fitbit device?
Also, please make sure that DND or Sleep Mode aren't activated. Actually, you can't turn on do not disturb and sleep mode at the same
time, but having one of them activated, causes the screen to stay on Dim mode. Lastly, you may change the clock face on your Charge 3 to a different one to see if that works. For more details, check: How do I change the clock face on my Fitbit device?
