Fitbit Connect not working on Windows 7

Replies are disabled for this topic. Start a new one or visit our Help Center.

so i've had this fitbit for awhile and just learned, i could sync with my PC
i run windows 7 and linux(debian based) and on windows, i installed the `FitBit Connect` program and told it to `sync` and it says plug in a dongle... i know FitBit uses Bluetooth and i have a Wifi/Bluetooth wireless network card, so why do i need a dongle? doing alittle of search around via google and i found mostly crap about windows 10 and how to restart the fitbit and nothing related to what my probblem is, and it just now clicked to me... if i need to buy a specific proprietary Bluetooth dongle just to sync... thats just plain stupid, i'm not going to go out and buy one if it syncs fine with mobile and not a computer?

if someone can tell me what i need to do, that would be a big help...

Hello @BILLPC2684 thank you for bringing this to me. I'd like to give you a warm welcome to our Community. Let me help you out with your concern. My apologies for the delayed reply.

Back in 2016 we announced that the Fitbit app for Windows 7, 8 and 8.1 are no longer available for download. Users who already have the app can continue to use it, but the app doesn't support certain devices such as your Charge 2. I'd recommend using our redesigned and enhanced Fitbit app for Windows 10 after upgrading your computer to Windows 10.

In the meantime, you can always sync your device using a compatible mobile device. If you want to sync your Charge 2 by using a computer with the Fitbit Connect software, then the main requirement is either using a Windows computer with at least 8.1 (but with this one, you should use the USB Dongle) software as well as Windows 10 computers. You can check our help article: How do I manually sync my tracker or watch? for more information.

Let me know if you need anything else, I'll be around.

is it possible to find the old compatible version on the internet somewhere? cuz i'm using windows 7 cuz refuse to use windows 10, it's a crap OS compared to 7 and if thats true, why is there a windows XP download? (XP may be outdated but it is my fav.) so it seems pretty pointless to remove them, and about using my phone(it's not good at battery life with bluetooth), whats why i wanted to use my computer and if i can't use windows, there wouldn't happen to be a official linux?

Hello again @BILLPC2684 thanks for your reply and update, I'm happy to continue assisting you.

Let me share with you that as with any technological device, we are constantly evolving and updating our products and services to work with the most recent technologies and platforms in the market. Therefore, since Windows 7 and Windows XP are operating systems that were launched years ago, we do not offer our Fitbit software for these versions. That said, if you're unable to sync your Charge 2 with your computer, you can use your mobile device because we do not support Linux too.

Take in consideration that you can turn the Bluetooth of your mobile device only to sync your Fitbit device and then turn this feature off to avoid any battery life difficulties.

I'll be here if you need anything else.

So if I only have access to a PC with Windows 7, I will not be able to upload music onto my FitBit Versa, correct? Or is there a way to upload music to the Versa from my smartphone?
