This is my 3rd Fitbit devise. After 18 to 24 months each Fitbit has bit the dust. My thought is Fitbit is causing these errors within the updates. That way they sell more product. Every time I have reached out to Fitbit with a problem it has never been resolved.
Personally I think it’s time to try a different product. I’ve heard good things on the Apple watch. A little pricey but I’ve known people that are going on 6 years with no difficulty.
the only down side is most of my friends have fitbit devises and I do enjoy the challenges with friends. Any thoughts are appreciated

I’ve pretty much given up on Fitbits. I love the look of them and the information they provide but they are so unreliable and customer service is appalling.
I’ve bought an Apple Watch. I don’t like it as much as the Fitbit. It’s too big and clunky and it doesn’t record and store the fitness info I want as well as the Fitbit does but they seem more reliable and Apple CS is streets ahead of Fitbit. I am currently wearing the Apple Watch on one wrist and my Fitbit on the other so I get used to the Apple Watch. When this Fitbit fails I won’t be replacing it.
