Fitbit clasp issue: workaround

Replies are disabled for this topic. Start a new one or visit our Help Center.

My Fitbit Charge 4 was doing fine until one of the clasps that attaches to a band broke. I contacted support and they were helpful but I was out of warranty and did not want to get a new (discounted) device. I tried to fix the clasp with glue but that didn’t work.

Then I looked up bands that would hold the Fitbit in place without attaching to the clasp. I found a few options and now have a new, awesome band! the band is a bit bulky but is a good fix until I decide what my next device will be.

I hope this helps someone!

@Trishers22I'm having the same problem.  I haven't tried gluing it yet though.  My clip and release latch broke off from the unit itself.  What band options did you find that allowed you to fasten it to the device without a clasp?  I am interested in maybe trying the same.

I glued mine about 2 months ago, and it's held well. I used Q Bond. I'm curious what band you found that worked, though?

I found some online and ultimately bought one from Amazon by GOSETH. GOSETH Compatible with Fitbit Charge 4/Fitbit Charge 3 Bands with Case, Silicone Strap with Shatter-Resistant Protective Frame for Fitbit Charge 3/SE/Charge 4 and Special Editions. There is also one by Supcase that is similar. I lost the tiny spring after keeping it so carefully so even gluing the clasp back on didn’t help.

Thank you for providing these options! My Charge4 suffered the same fate with one of the plastic clasps and was also out of warranty.  I had purchased warranty through Wal-Mart/AllState but they claimed that since the watch came off my wrist while running, it was deemed an "accident" and not "mechanical failure" (Unbelievable!!). Anyway, I have been going back and forth with support about fixing or replacement options (35% discount on new Fitbit but not applicable to Ace 2, Ace 3 or Charge5).

Was googling for options regarding gluing or home-made repairing the clasp but your solution is much better. Fitbit should instruct their Tech Support to suggest this solution as it is very apparent from the posts on the internet that these plastic clasps are a defective design.

Thanks so much for posting this.  My band just fell off yesterday and I saw that the plastic on the connector broke.  Will try to superglue it but don't expect it to work.  With the SOSETH band I will still be able to use the tracker, which is working fine.  What a shame that they changed to plastic when the metal connector for Charge 2 was so durable.  Plastic is a poor choice and I won't buy another tracker if it has a plastic connection between the tracker and the strap.
