Hello @The_FDO and welcome to the Help forums.  First, can you please clarify where you are seeing the GPS will not be turned on comment?  If you are seeing it in the following path -- tap on Exercise tile on your phone app > the gear icon > Run (on the list of auto-recognized activities) > Auto-recognize and Run Longer Than, then those are the SmartTrack settings and they don't connect to GPS.  They just don't.

When you are tracking your run with Exercise app on the Charge 2 itself and you keep seeing the animated phone with the moving line, then your Charge 2 isn't connecting to your phone's GPS.

This Help article How do I use GPS on my Fitbit device? has some troubleshooting tips.  The most common reason your phone won't connect is a change in the Location Services requirement for the Fitbit app.  It must be set to Always, not to Just When Using the App.
