Google Calendar Sync Issues

I'm having issues syncing my Google Calendar with my Fitbit Charge 3. I'm using the Fitbit app on an iPhone. Under the Notifications settings, I have Calendar Events turned on. If I expand the App Notifications to manage other third party apps that can be displayed on my tracker, I see Google Calendar listed. If I turn on Google Calendar notifications, I'm not seeing anything on my phone (I've already tried several dummy calendar events and set different notifications via Google Calendar to test how this would show on my Charge 3). Nothing gives though, still can't see calendar notifications.

If I go into the App Notifications and turn on Google Calendar notifications, then go back a few screens to Sync Now (even though I have All-Day Sync set to on), it seems to turn off the Google Calendar app notifications... Not sure what is causing this. If you have any tips, please help, thanks.

Welcome on board @JavOo, it's nice to see you here! Thanks for testing this feature on your own, nice way to go!

Are you making sure that the actual calendar events have reminders set? That is the only additional thing I can think of that might be off from your end. Just having an event on your calendar won't generate a notification on your phone or the Charge 3. Only events with reminders (app reminders, not email reminders) will pop up on the phone and the Charge 3.

Set up the notifications you want to receive on your wrist. Make sure your charged Fitbit device is nearby.

  1. From the Fitbit app dashboard, tap the Account icon > your device image.
  2. Tap Notifications. If you're prompted to pair your Fitbit device, follow the on-screen instructions.
  3. Turn each notification category on or off depending on your preferences. If you want to see calendar notifications, make sure any other calendar apps are synced with your default calendar app. Only the default app sends notifications.
  4. If your Fitbit device can receive notifications from other apps on your phone, tap App Notifications and make your choices. If an installed app is missing from the list, sync your device and then check again.
  5. Sync your device.

Give this a shot and let me know the outcome!

Thank you @MarreFitbit, I had calendar reminders (notifications) for all of my Google Calendar events. I'm not sure what changed but I followed your steps and has been working just fine!

I have the same problem with getting my google calendar notifications to show up on my fitbit charge 3. I know I have to make google calendar my default calendar, but when I go to change it in settings on my iPhone, I can only choose from Exchange og Icloud calendars. I can't seem to find google calendar from there. Can you help?

I'm honestly not sure what I changed on my device settings to make it work, I'm sorry I can't be more helpful @ThomasSand. If you hold the button on your Fitbit, make sure the notifications icon isn't turned off. Other than that, I would recommend double-checking that your phone is connected to your Fitbit via Bluetooth.

Welcome on board @ThomasSand, it's nice to see you around here! Thanks for bringing this to my attention, unfortunately at this moment, when you enable calendar notifications in the Fitbit app for your Charge 3, only the default Apple Calendar will send notifications to your tracker. What I have set on my iPhone in order to link both my Google Calendar with the Apple Calendar app is the following:

  1. Go to Settings > Accounts & Passwords > Add Account
  2. Select Google
  3. Log in to the Google Account you want to link, then tap on Next.
  4. Enable the slider for Calendars
  5. Open the Apple Calendar app
  6. At the bottom of the screen, tap the Calendars icon to display a list of all calendars to which your iPhone has access. It'll include all of your private, shared, and public calendars linked to your Google Account.
  7. Select or deselect the individual calendars you want to appear when you're accessing the iOS calendar app. You can adjust the list and change the default color associated with each calendar within the app by clicking the circled red i on the right side of the calendar name; in the new window, select a different color and even rename the calendar, then tap Done at the top of the screen.

Now that the calendars have synced, checked if the Apple Calendar contains your appointments and events, if so, you will receive Apple Calendar alerts on your phone, which will transfer to the Alta.

Thanks for helping out @JavOoSmiley Very Happy

Hope that helps, let me know the outcome!

This option doesn't appear in my FitBit notifications menu, at all. I followed the steps exactly and it's not there. That's been the case for everything I've tried to do with this. It's so frustrating. Why have this thing if it can't do something as simple as send notifications? I'm a developer, tech savvy, and if I can't find the option to get google calendar notifications, it's probably a pretty bad design.

Hi.  I am using my Charge 3 with a Google Pixel 2 XL

notifications in fitbit app for calendar are on

permissions in fitbit app on phone are granted for calendar

all my calendar appointments have a 10 minute notification.

I am not getting anything...oh as suggested I have just cleared the cache but do not know as yet if that will help

I lost my Fitbit charge 3 and bought a new Charge 4. I still have a problem getting notifications from Google Calendar on my iPhone to show up on the fitbit. I find it extremely difficult to get this to work. Is it possible for you to help me again? I have tried the explanation you gave me last year, but I am not having any luck with it...

Another Fitbit user with the similar issue here..

After struggling a few hours, I finally got my Charge 2 to work with the Google Calendar app on my iPhone. Here is what I think the major trick is (for my case) and hope that helps some people having the same issue.

It seems that Fitbit Charge 2's calendar notification communicates with iPhone's Calendar app (NOT the Google Calendar app!). It is eventually activated by the "Notification Center" option. To check if this is configured properly, go to iPhone's Settings > Notifications > Calendar >, and then turn on "Allow Notifications". In "Upcoming Events", make sure "Notification Center" is checked. Now we can try to set up a dummy event in iPhone's own calendar app, and see if it works on Fitbit (after set up the dummy calendar, make sure to sync Fitbit right away).

If the iPhone's calendar app does trigger Fitbit's notification, great, then the next step would be to sync Google Calendar to iPhone's Calendar, which I believe there are many discussions about this. I just wanted to remind that after setting up a new dummy Google calendar event (say, an event to happen in 5 minutes), make sure to push sync iPhone's Calendar app right away (iPhone's Calendar app > Calendars > pull down to sync), then push sync in Fitbit's app. This is because iPhone's auto sync (fetch) only happens every 15 min or more. Fitbit won't vibrate if the new Google calendar event did not sync all the way through iPhone's Calendar app and then Fitbit's app.

Hope this helps
