I walk most hours to meet the 250 step goal but nothing displays at the end of the day. That is, the "dots" don't fill in for the hours i meet the goal. How do I make this feature work? I've looked at a month's worth of topics but haven't found this one.
Thank you.

Try a restart do it 3 times
If it doesn't help try a Long Restart
Plug the device into the charging cable. While the device is plugged into the charging cable, hold the button down for 15 seconds. Remove your finger from button. Note: Device won't have a smiley face icon and should be off with a black screen. Remove the device from the charging cable. Plug the device into the charging cable again. The smiley face icon appears on the screen.

Thank you for your reply! It made me realize I wasn't clear in describing the issue. My fitbit is fine and the reminder comes each hour, I step and the record is made.
However, when I look at my phone to see my daily results, the "dots" are not filled in for the hours in which I had 250 steps. I can't figure out why as all the other fields are populated with data.
Thank you for your response. I will give you a vote for it.
