How do I change my step sensitivity?

Replies are disabled for this topic. Start a new one or visit our Help Center.

I’ve used the charge and the charge 2 for years, been a hairdresser for a lot longer, and have never had this problem- when i shampoo clients, my charge 2 has recently started counting steps, from scrubbing clients heads while standing still. It’s completely been throwing me off now, and it’s impossible to wash one handed, or keep taking off and putting on as when I’m driving, and I’m frustrated because I’ve never had this problem. I can’t find anywhere to lessen the sensitivity, because I’d rather have it undercount than over- it’s messing with my weight loss!

Hello! Welcome to the Community Forums @Nickdxx, sorry for the delay in responding your post.

Let me share with you that Fitbit devices have a finely-tuned algorithm for step counting. The algorithm is designed to look for intensity and motion patterns that are most indicative of people walking and running. When working at a desk, cooking, or performing other activities with arm movements, a device on your wrist may add some steps. When you’re doing activities that involve arm movement, you often walk a few steps in-between stationary periods as well, so the device tries to give you credit for those steps. For most users, the number of extra steps added by arm-based movement isn’t significant when compared to your overall stats. For more information, see How does my Fitbit device count steps?
