Hey there @lfgray, it's nice to see you around here! Smiley Very Happy To end the workout, press the button again and tap Finish. Swipe up to see your workout summary.

For certain Fitbit devices, if you stop moving during the run or bike exercises—such as at a traffic light—your exercise pauses automatically while you’re still (known as auto-pause). You’ll feel your device vibrate indicating that activity tracking paused.

To continue, resume your run or bike ride; you’ll feel your device vibrate indicating that activity tracking continued. For runs, if your watch doesn’t detect a run for 10 consecutive minutes, you’ll see a message asking if you want to end the exercise.

To turn off auto-pause:

  1. On your device, open the Exercise app > Run
  2. Tap the gear icon, or swipe up on Charge 3.
  3. Find Auto-Pause and change the setting to Off.
  4. Press the back button to return to the exercise screen.
  5. Tap the exercise screen and then tap the play icon to start the workout.

If you want to delete this activity that was tracked by mistake, see How do I edit or delete Fitbit data and activities?

Hope this helps, I'll be around if you need further assistance!

Thank you. Is there a way of deleting part of a workout such as when I forget, or are unable, to turn it off?

You're very welcome @lfgraySmiley Very Happy If you're referring to the time spent during the activity, I'm afraid to say that there's no way to edit the time just the name of the activity. However, what you can do is delete the activity and manually log it with the correct details.

Just keep in mind that when manually logging activities, typically your steps will be recalculated if you manually log an activity as the manually logged activity takes precedence over the steps you tracked while wearing your tracker at that point in time. For example, if I am wearing my tracker and walking and I reach 10,000 steps, then I go to the computer and manually log an activity that starts and ends at that point in time for say 1 hour, Fitbit will calculate how many steps you took and it may bring my step count to something below 10,000 steps. To clarify, activities should only be manually logged when you forget to wear your Fitbit.

Let me know if you need further assistance!

Nothing is working to stop my fit bit’s exercise mode. I can get to the finish screen but no matter how I push the. Barge 3 screen it will not stop. This is brand new and my first time using.

When you press the button, it shows "paused", then you press again to get to an option page, and press finish. Next swipe to the bottom and press the "check mark". This should end the exercise... Hope this helps...

When I hit the pause button it just keeps taking me back to the workout screen. I’ve tried over 10 times. Can I just turn it off and reset it maybe? How would I do that?

Hey there @Kate_oa! As it has been mentioned, For certain Fitbit devices, if you stop moving during the run or bike exercises, your exercise pauses automatically while you’re still (known as auto-pause).

To turn off auto-pause:

  1. On your device, open the Exercise app > Run
  2. Swipe up on Charge 3.
  3. Find Auto-Pause and change the setting to Off.
  4. Press the back button to return to the exercise screen.
  5. Tap the exercise screen and then tap the play icon to start the workout.

Also, with your Charge 3:

  1. On your tracker, open the Exercise app.
  2. Swipe left to find the exercise type.
  3. Tap the exercise to select it.
  4. Tap Start to begin the exercise, or Set Goal to choose a time, distance, or calorie goal, depending on the activity.
  5. Tap the middle of the screen to scroll through your real-time stats. On Charge 3, your progress toward your maximum heart rate is shown on an indicator next to your beats per minute.
  6. When you're done with your workout or want to pause, press the button. Note that if you set an exercise goal, Charge 3 vibrates and flashes when you reach the goal.
  7. To end the workout, press the button again and tap Finish. Swipe up to see your workout summary. Tap the check mark to close the summary screen.

Thanks a lot for your help @T8B15

I have tried this many times. It pauses and says press button to finish. When I press the button, it starts running again. I can't get out of the exercise mode. It kept running for several hours after my walk today. Have no idea how I managed to stop it. So frustrated. I am afraid to use it for swimming.

Directions are not clear on how to stop the exercise mode. Do you tap the triangle or the side button?

Same here - it's taken 10 minutes of me pressing the side button and play button on the screen to finally reach the screen showing finish option.  Very frustrating!  Once in pause setting it just starts playing again when you press the button - any tips?

I have been playing with it. Using it for my daily walk. It pauses when I stop moving. When I stop, I press the side button 2 times, quickly. That brings me to the "finish" menu.
