A warm welcome to the Fitbit Community @tekiral, hope you're doing great! Woman Very Happy

Are you using the connected GPS for your activities?

As you may know, Fitbit trackers calculate distance by multiplying your walking steps by your walking stride length and multiplying your running steps by your running stride length. By default, we calculate your stride length using your height and gender.

If you've already tracked one or more activities with the connected GPS, we evaluate that data to automatically update your running stride length. For best results, run at a comfortable pace for at least 10 minutes.

If your distance measurement seems inaccurate after double checking the above information, follow the steps below to calculate your stride length and then add it to your Fitbit account.

  1. Go to a track or some place where you're sure of the distance.
  2. Count your steps as you walk across that distance, making sure you travel at least 20 steps.
  3. Divide the total distance (in feet) taken by the number of steps to get your stride length.

Your running stride can be calculated the same way if you run instead of walk.

To adjust your stride lengths using the Fitbit app, tap or click the Account icon and find the Stride Length setting.

Charge 2 work with the sensors on your nearby mobile device to track GPS data (known as connected GPS).

First-time setup:

  • Make sure your phone can track your activity when you're out of Wi-Fi range. This is usually achieved by making sure Cellular Data is turned on.
  • Make sure GPS can continue tracking while your phone is locked.
  • Make sure your phone can identify your location. This is usually achieved by enabling Location Services within your privacy settings.

Now, when you're ready for tracking your biking routine:

  • On your tracker, press the button until you get to the Exercise screen.
  • Tap to find the exercise of your choice.
  • Press and hold the button to start the exercise. If you see a phone icon at the top, that exercise offers connected GPS and your device is connected to a GPS signal. If the phone icon has a line through it that means your tracker is not connected to your phone or your phone is not connected to a GPS signal. If the phone icon has an animated dashed line next to it, that means your device is trying to find a GPS signal.
  • During your workout, tap your tracker to scroll through your real-time stats or check the time of day.
  • To pause your workout, press the button. Then press the button again to resume the exercise.
  • When you’re done with your workout, press and hold the button to stop recording. You’ll see a flag icon and a congratulatory message.
  • Press the button to see a summary of your results. With each button press you’ll cycle to a different set of stats. You can view your exercise summary one time.

Syncing your tracker stores the workout in your exercise history. There you can find additional stats and see your route if you used connected GPS. Robot wink

Give it a shot and let me know how it goes!

If you are biking without using connected-GPS, Fitbit has no way to get distance.

You would have to have your phone with you and use connected-GPS, whereby your tracker is connected to phone's GPS.  I think it is on the Exercise Shortcuts screen, if you tap on Bike, it gives you the option to select connected-GPS.  Then when you select to start 'Bike', watch and make sure it gets connected to GPS before you start.

I might not have those steps exactly right, not having Charge 2 right by me, but it is the general idea.

I have just about had it with my fitbit because it fails to properly track mileage on my bike ride. Essentially makes it an overpriced heart rate monitor. I have seen multiple suggestions on this site making sure gps is on for the phone; restart you fitbit; change the settings from auto identify exercise. One ride it will work the next two it will say 3 miles as it did today on a 25 mile ride. The map shows straight lines for routes but no mileage.  My understanding its some sort of glitch they cant fix and hope you live with it.
