I have just found out that my Fitbit device has been sneakily tracking my location even though I specifically disabled the GPS on the device setting and set my phone not to share my location with the Fitbit. The unhelpful customer services officer at Fitbit has informed me that the information google has collected cannot be deleted when synced with the device. Surely this should not be the case? Why is it acceptable for google to bypass my settings on both the device and my phone, collect my personal information and then tell me they cannot delete it. The Fitbit staff was also unable to tell me if there is a way to fix this fault/malfunction or how to make sure it does not happen again.
Anyone able to help?
I will also be raising this with the Fitbit Data Privacy officer as this is wholly unacceptable
