Not enough heart rate data available

OK, this is gonna go in a few directions, please bear with me! I got to using the app on my android phone because using the tracker was poor at tracking my walk.  It would zig zag all over, not at all like the more straight path I was walking.  So the app became my preferred way of documenting my walk.  Not that it was perfect, but better than starting the recording of my walk with the tracker.  Well they added a bar on the app that has three selections, 'Default', 'Heart Zones', and 'Pace'.  No issues with Default and Pace but would always get 'Not enough heart rate data available' with the app.  I read a thread that said if you use the tracker, you will get info when you select Heart Zones.  True!  But the tracker loses the connection to the app on my 2 mile walk and does not reconnect. You can see it trying to find a connection, but finally the phone icon on the tracker has a line through it. Then it attempts the connection again.  But once lost, it seems not to be able to find it again.  Can anyone help?  Keep in mind I'm walking, not sitting in front of my computer to try things.  That would be a lot of stuff to carry on the walk, and a long extension cord!  Thanks.

Hi,

Are you still having this issue? Firstly, can I ask if the fitbit app has been given full location access (i.e. ALWAYS on).

If that's not it, I would proceed down this list of to dos:

- restart phone (good practice to do this at least once a week)

- remove and reinstall Fitbit app

- make sure the app isn't being restricted by your phone's battery plan. I've had it before where it was on an optimised usage power setup, and it caused some similar issues. Usually settings > battery > select app and edit the settings. ("Don't put to sleep" or something along these lines)

- check my phone's 4g signal in the area of the walk

- check I am on a good data plan with service provider (a lot of tracking relies on fast data transfer)

Failing that, I'm not sure what to suggest. The zig zag gps jumping does suggest bad signal or spotty operation.
