I did a 35 minute walk today and the fitbit did not recognize it like it usually does even though it added the steps to my daily total and the active minutes. When i added it manually it reduced my number of steps significantly and said i only burned 2 calories a minute even though i went through all 3 heart rated during that time. So i deleted the manually entry

Are you relying on the Smart track? Sometimes its better to use the exercise mode to make sure you capture the exercise
You can have up to 7 exercise shortcuts. On your dashboard click on the gear and choose settings. Look for exercise shortcuts. Change to what you want.
When you go out select Walk and push the button in to record it. When done Stop it the same way
