Hi all,
The other day I woke up and checked my fit charge 4 and it registered between 6 am and 8am 78,000 steps. I know this is wrong. This is the 2nd or 3rd time it has done this issue. However, this has been the most extreme amount of steps. Yesterday the unit gave me credit for 45 miles of movement in a day, which is no where close to what I actually did. On my best days I am at 25k steps. The unit is on my non dominant hand. I keep the unit regularly charged and updated. I do sleep with it on my wrist. Is this a software glitch? Or a possibility of a hardware failure? Thoughts?

Welcome to the Fitbit Community, @Akyeti.
I'm sorry to hear about the difficulties you experienced with your Fitbit Charge 4. Thank you for trying to get them resolved before contacting us.
The dominant wrist setting decreases the sensitivity of step counting and should reduce any over counting of steps when your body is not moving. Your dominant hand is the one you use for writing and eating. For instructions on how to change the wrist setting, please visit this article and open the menu "How do I change the wrist setting on my Fitbit device?".
In addition, you can restart your Fitbit device by following these steps.
If necessary, you can negate the extra data by following the instructions in this article in the menu "How do I delete steps and floors in the Fitbit app?".
Have a nice day.
