Replacement strap Charge 2

Replies are disabled for this topic. Start a new one or visit our Help Center.

My strap broke (one half just came loose and won't stay attached to the Fitbit) and my Charge 2 is only 2 months out of warranty.  Replacement straps not available on UK Fitbit website (why not?)  Bought a replacement from Ebay which is supposed to be for Charge 2 but has a completely different fitting.

Original strap has no metal clasp parts in the strap and just slides on to the Fitbit.  The replacement I bought has a metal clasps that just don't bear any relation to any part of the Fitbit.

Called Fitbit customer services but they were no help.   Any suggestions?   Thanks!

Hi @Dogstaruk  I see the Charge 2 bands are on the US site. Classic band in large (blue) and leather in large (pink) but as the Charge 2 was retired, doubt there would be more bands for sale. Amazon doesn't seem to have them on their site, either. Some third party bands just aren't quite the right design to fit. Any chance you can see the US Fitbit Store site or have a friend in the US who can send you a band?

Hi there -

Thanks for the suggestion. I think I may have to do that. Annoying that my Fitbit is just over 2 years old and it’s proving so difficult to find a replacement strap. There are lots of 3rd party sellers on Ebay and Amazon offering Charge 2 straps but I’ve no way of telling from the pics if they’re the right style of fitting. Surprised this isn’t an issue that’s cropped up with other people.

Facebook has a Marketplace where people sell their unwanted items. Could be you'd find something there, too.

I used Amazon to get a replacement band and it was fine.

Thanks for the replies. I’ve figured it out now. The old strap which came loose had broken away from the connector fittings, which were still attached to the Fitbit and I hadn’t realised that they were part of the strap rather than the Fitbit and needed to be detached before fitting the new strap. Duh!

Fitbit customer service just told me that I could buy a replacement band. I assumed this meant from them but apparently not..?

Hi @lahu11  you might find an original Charge 2 band on Amazon or another retailer, but not at the Fitbit.com store. You could probably find a knock off version on Amazon that would work for you.

I'm really disappointed that Fitbit has stopped making straps for earlier models available. I have a Charge 2, and had to buy a replacement strap on Amazon. I had a severe allergic reaction to the strap, which was extremely painful. This never happened with the official Fitbit straps. So now I either have to buy another one from Amazon and hope for the best, and if I have a reaction to that too then my only option is to buy a more recent model? Surely there must be a better option than this. I guess you're only a valued Fitbit customer if you continually buy new models?

Hi @mkinsey  Fitbit values every member. Although the Charge 2 band isn't available, it doesn't mean support is only for the newer models. One reason the forum exists is to give support, even when the warranty period is over. I have an Alta HR and it's not the newest style of Fitbit. As for the band you purchased and had a bad reaction to, did you clean it before putting it on? I know if I forgot to clean my Flex band,I would get a rash. I always clean the band when I put it back on my wrist, even if I don't charge it.

@Odyssey13 yes I did clean it. I'm afraid I don't agree with you that Fitbit values every customer, if the only advice that can be given is to go buy a knock off strap elsewhere that can potentially hurt you - that's not support for older models in my book. That combined with the difference in pricing on the UK and US website really don't make me feel valued by Fitbit at all. Following advice from someone on this thread, I looked on the US site to see if I could get a strap there (it seems they don't sell them anymore). I also looked at chargers as I need a replacement - the price of a charger for the Charge 2 on the US site is $3.95 (roughly £3.17), but the same product is £16.99 in the UK store.
